This is one movie I don't want to be spoiled on, but people had the same thing to say about Halloween 2018 making a bunch of callbacks, after it was already done in H20, and Halloween 2018 turned out to be fantastic, so I don't have a problem with it.

IDK, I thought that the recreation of Casey's murder in the opening kill was rather embarrassing and most people loved it. Not for me I guess

I just hope its creepy & suspenseful, I'm so tired of loud noises, stupid jump scares, I want tense chase scenes, great scores, scary dialogue and dear god no 'trying to be funny' or 'lighten the mood' moments/characters, I want serious, chilling and down right scary moments. also if one character talks about anything pop culturey or social media I'm walking out the theatre.

It's idiotic for the franchise, but it's a smart marketing choice, they want to relaunch the franchise and newer people who aren't familiar with this franchise are less likely to see something with a "5" in its name. I'd even guess that its not going to reference any of the previous films (which doesn't really matter because Scream 3 didn't reference Scream 2 and Scream 4 didn't reference Scream 2 and Scream 3).

There are minor, subtle references peppered throughout Scream 3 and 4 to their predecessors.
