Yeah, I wouldn't trust them for limited edition like this. If I didn't order from Amazon, I would have ordered from Diabolik.

The only tricky part would be matching the quality to the rest of the film, but I think we can all agree that would be preferred over sub titles. Taking the audio from a VHS copy of something for a Blu-Ray is unforgivable. Especially when it doesn't have to be that way. Shout should have just spent more time on this. I truly believe Cliff would have been 100% fine with just releasing the VHS rip on Blu-Ray..... They don't care about quality. They need to realize low quality reduce sales.
Once again it would be easy finding an audio engineer that would work on this for pennies. They just don't want to do it....... Probably for a 2nd release down the road.
I've been involved in several restorations (The Wild Bunch, Giant, The Exorcist, The Searchers, The Haunting among them), and it's no simple matter even if you're only talking about restoring 15 minutes of footage, let alone the quantity in this cut. You're talking about sequences that were never mixed, probaby never even had any ADR and certainly wouldn't have had full sound effects mixed, so those would all have to be painstakingly sourced, restored and mixed, which you're not going to do in a $50 session and is a completely different kettle of fish to the kind of setup you need to shoot an interview. Just the time sourcing and properly cataloguing the material you need to use is horrifying.

The moment you start revising any part of a film and try to do it to a fully professional standard, you're looking at a lot of time and consequently a lot of money regardless of how underpaid those involved are (and believe me, there's no money in restoration even for major studios: it's a process that runs on calling in favors and seriously underpaying people who are only there because they care about the film as it is). For a film this obscure that will sell this limited a number of units and which comes with high licensing and legal costs, it's a case of having to settle for what the label can afford. Shout aren't a major studio and there's no 300lb gorilla pushing the project through despite a multi-national's management's reluctance.

I just picture a gorilla pushing Laurel & Hardy into a studio-era-executive's office.

I always picture Joel Silver storming into Warren Lieberfarb's office screaming "Why the **** isn't there a widescreen version of Blazing Saddles out? Do you even ****ing know what Blazing Saddles is?" Which really is why Warners produced the widescreen laserdisc. It's amazing how many titles came out in the 90s as a result of 'talent relationship issues' rather than simple economics.

It's good to hear the input of someone who has actually worked on a restoration.

The tape of the early work print they found just had rough on set dialog, which didn't sync up for a good portion of the film, and it also had no sound effects. The guy who put together the Cabal Cut used the tape, the theatrical cut, the soundtrack CD and had Doug Bradley come in to redub his voice just so they could make it feel like a real film. Cliff from Shout Factory said they’d do their best to find the missing dialog and that they'd use some of what Russell Cherrington had started, but there may be a couple scenes that have to be subtitled. This doesn't sound like an unreasonable compromise to me at all. They are going to have to do a lot of work to make it all match up even if they can find the exact dialog for the scenes.

As for the entire collection, I wouldn't want to shell out any money for 5-8 and definitely the REVELATIONS.

Now if they did 1-4....I would be all about it.
My thoughts exactly. I want full a full on documentary, along with deleted scenes or preferably workprints/alternate versions included though. Save on the Custom artwork and just give me theatrical posters for all 4 inside 4 Black Blu ray cases. (Although releasing the set inside of the Lamant Configuration like what Anchor Bay did would be pretty sweet as well).

maybe it will be like the alien 3 situation. the dvd had poor sound, the boxset was very successful. so when they did the blu ray, they were able to get the actors back for it. granted that nightbreed is not that popular. its possible down the road they might be able to revisit it.

Same here... of the 20 or so Blu Rays I've purchased from them on ebay, every single one has arrived flawless. Don't blame the company, complain to your postal office. Thankfully My mail people are excellent and it's incredibly rare for anything destructive to happen to my mail.

This. I've ordered steelbooks and mediabooks from them and they've arrived in excellent shape due to using boxes instead of envelopes or bags.

My UPS guy actually takes my trash cans around for me and hides my packages, my USPS lady waits late at the post office to hand me my packages, normally get there after 5 when they are closed, I have good mail people but you can't help machines, airlines, trucks, and all the other stuff that puts stress on packages which is why boxes are needed.

I am giving people a huge head's up. Do not order this set from Blowitoutahere thinking they can fill it. It's a very bad gamble on a limited set. I wouldn't trust anyone outside of Amazon or Shout itself. Blowitoutahere is a fine retailer for a lot of items but this is not one of them.

It makes me think of that Seinfeld episode where Jerry goes to a car rental place to discover that his car is actually not available despite having a reservation. "Blowitoutahere knows how to take the pre order, but they just don't know how to hold the pre order. And that really is the most important part of the pre order."

Anyone else's Amazon order say "not yet shipped" instead of pre-ordered?? All of my Amazon pre-orders say "pre-ordered" but my Nightbreed LE says "not yet shipped".

Mine also says "not yet shipped". All of the other BDs I have on preorder say "pre-ordered". I do have a fry pan on backorder and it also says "not yet shipped", so it's not just this set that says it.

I'm thinking the same. I did do a pre-order at Blowitoutahere, due to the price, but I'm keeping the Shout pre-order, to make sure I don't miss out on a copy if Blowitoutahere can't fulfill it.

My Amazon order also says "not yet shipped" as opposed to my "pre-ordered" status for the Halloween set. I don't think I'll panic just yet. Then again, I am not going to cancel my Shout order either.
