Yeah, I hope so too. I don't need those.
And without those maybe the price goes down a bit..

They also had a re-purposed lossless 7.1 track. If Batman eschews that (IMO) unnecessary bit and gives us a solid lossless mono/stereo, that again saves on disc space. Anyway, I for one do not believe that WB would go to all the legal trouble to get this set out and then be penny-pinching on disc count.

Yeah, this.

Looking at the box though, it does look like it follows the tradition of WB's other big box designs (Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka, etc) so it might look nice on the shelf...but not for almost 300 dollars, hell no. And I can't even make use of any sort of pre-order discounts when I can't even know whether or not it will be region free

Jeez I'm not sure what to do! Buy this version or wait, I don't need the cards, but the books are cool. Plus I generally don't like odd shaped packaging, but it's Batman!

My mom actually stood in line sometime in the 60's or 70's and got Burt Ward's autograph. Apparently my grandpa thought it was really stupid to stand in line for hours for an autograph lol. (o and she didn't have to pay anything, unlike today)

At this time I think I will pass on this set and wait for a simpler BLU set. I'm not a huge fan.. and to me it is kind of a blind buy tv show set. I honestly think WB tried too hard on this set and came up short. They over did the contents and ruined the packaging overall. (That care on the bottom Right hand side is just awful looking. Ruins the whole artwork for the box set IMO. I mean come on the people who want this show are probably not kids and could careless about the toy car in the box. It is fine that it is in the box set but they are proclaiming it like it is a major bonus feature!

I think WB kind of messed up what could have been the ultimate TV show box set of the year. No audio commentaries at all? I find it hard to believe Adam West himself would have declined to discuss specific episodes. WB had an awesome property to release and they kind of just created a mediocre box set. For the price tag of this set that toy car on the box art is NOT how you sell this show lol.

I'm a little concerned about the packaging too. If that Batmobile window is clear plastic, then that means the car itself is probably sitting in a little cardboard box on the inside, like a reverse blister package, and once removed, it'll damage the packaging and leave a big blank window there. You either have to leave the car there or make the box look like crap because you removed it. I've seen toys packaged like this, so I doubt WB came up with a clever yet simple way to easily remove and replace the car without damaging it.

Take a look at their Blade Runner 30th anniversary set It has a toy car showing out of a window of that one too, and inside it comes in its own little plastic holder that's easily removed. No blister packs, or damage.

Okay, awesome! I gladly stand corrected -- WB did come up with a clever yet simple way to easily remove and replace the car without damaging it. Hopefully they'll do the same for the Batmobile.

I got a question, will the eps have the black bars on the side when we watches them or will they'll be full screen?

I'd prefer a better image of them on the front, but otherwise I do like the look of the packaging. The digipaks inside were a pleasant surprise too. I do agree with powell above though, they should have created some commentary tracks, but still, I think it's a great value if you can get it for under $200, especially considering the UV copy included. You can get at least $40 for that.

It appears there will also be a more affordable Complete First Season barebones release on DVD. No mention of First Season release for Blu-Ray, though.

Now completely re-mastered, all of the originality, crime fighting action, and arch-villainy of the premiere season are perfectly pixilated on DVD like never before - for those who were there, and a new generation of Bat-fans!

When I hear them describe it as "pixilated" I can't help but think of the tiny digital low-res squares being visible on your screen. I know that's not what is intended, and it's only DVD, not HD, but still, strange way to pitch it.

I'll wait for a non LE BD release. Warners have always given us a choice with a big box release (as pointed out - Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Blade Runner etc) or a more affordable one without collectables and (mostly) the same content.
But - and here is the big but - I dont want to miss out on content on the actual discs if there is a cheaper release later.

Beautiful except for the Batmobile.

I dont get why include a toy?

Kids arent buying this and Bat-collectors should already have a Batmobile.

And a parent could just purchase a Hot Wheels Batmobile separately.

I really wanted the set to focus on the show.

I'm guessing someone made a mistake regarding the episode counts on the Blu-ray discs for Season 3:

S1: 12, 12, 10
S2: 12, 12, 6, 12, 12, 6
S3: 10, 14, 2

S1 & S2 are consistent, with either 10 or 12 episodes (presumably on a BD-50) or 6 episodes (presumably on a BD-25) per disc. Using that logic, it makes more sense to have 10, 10 and 6 episodes per disc for S3.

I'd say it most likely comes down to what features are on what disc.

According to the press release, all special features are on their own disc (Blu-ray Disc 13), which makes no sense if Disc 12 has only 2 episodes on it (why would Warner Brothers waste money on a 13th disc, when 3+ hours of bonus content could easily fit on Disc 12).

So they could sell these exact discs separately in the future. It's very likely any individual season or volume release wouldn't inlude the bonus disc, so they're keeping that separate for this set.
