I look forward to the press release, though - just for some clarification on a few points (though, nothing it's going to say will sway my decision to purchase, it's the episodes I want more than all else).
Yeah, this could be bare bones and I'd still want it.

That would be cannibalizing his income stream. Whatever paltry amount he might have gotten to license it likely wouldn't have been worth it for him, especially since they will probably start selling like hotcakes due to this release. Having seen it, it's also...very odd - it's really unique. It's not something I think the average joe would find entertaining, to be honest - you have to have a certain sense of humor and it's just not - mainstream.

As to the other extras folks have mentioned from other releases (Batmania), I presume it's the same thing - they were not produced by Fox, they would have had to be licensed, and there was little incentive even if approached for folks to do it - why get a few cents a copy for giving Fox the content, when you can re-release the content yourself to coincide with this release? It's all native SD anyway, so all they have to do is put the DVDs back in print.

That said, I do wish they had some commentaries on there - as well as a few tidbits like the Batgirl pilot. I'm more surprised about the lack of commentaries (aside from what appears to be on the first two episodes by West alone). I'll be happy should more appear, but content with what is offered.

But, honestly, uncut, fully complete episodes - I'm in. That's what really matters, I have everything else one way or another, and I'm just so so so glad they are in proper disc hubs - now THAT would have sent me looking for the international version if they were in cardboard sleeves/slots. I'm so glad they didn't make us have to deal with that one.
Oh! I forgot about that! The commentaries! I thought I heard years ago that Adam recorded commentaries for every episode or something, because he wasn't sure he'd be around when the set came out. That would've been a nice extra.

Anyway, no question I'm getting this set.

I was afraid they might penny-pinch on the number of discs. Kind of foolish on an expensive set like this one but I am sure a WB executive got some sort of Christmas bonus for cutting a couple of discs from the total.

yep they more than likely did get a bonus to cheat consumers, all cause they figured over compressed discs will still be best the suckers (consumers) ever seen them

BUT should have released them at max bit-rates and used more discs

What an awesome panel! Julie Newmar seemed a bit out of it and Adam and Burt got a little contentious a couple times, but overall a lot of fun. The HD footage looked amazing, especially when compared to the syndication masters and I can't wait to get my hands on that set.

Another thing I'd really like to see on here, besides the Batgirl pilot, are the original Adam West & Burt Ward (as well as the Lyle Waggoner & Peter Deyell), Batman & Robin Screen Tests. I'm sure they'll be squeezed in pieces into one of the documentaries, but I'd like to see them in their complete cut.

Well they only mentioned "NEW BONUS FEATURES". So, it wouldn't surprise me if they included some older stuff too!

Also, lets not forget, WB put the same amount of episodes per disc for each season of Friends (although they're slightly shorter, but ARE in widescreen), and they look absolutely spectacular!
I think we're going to be okay... Slight compression isn't going to be a huge issue for me... WB aren't going to trot out a presentation that looks absolutely terrible... They've not let us down in the past with these limited editions, I think we're in safe hands!

Sold and quite easily actually. Day of release? Maybe. Depends on finances and if any other major blu or DVD releases are announced between now and then.

I know some have had comments and negative opinions on the packaging. Everyone has a right to their opinion. For me, it's fine. It's a reflection of 1960s mod, which a Batman typifies. As for the window/sticker for the Batmobile, not only is it to show off the iconic car, but Hot Wheel fans are serious about collectible cars. That will sell them as much as the casual on the set.

As for me, my only issue (so far) is that Yvvone Craig is kind of getting shorted in the publicity department. I do hope she did contribute and she will get her share of attention before we are through.

Anyway, cannot wait for November.

Funny, even though the price went way up on the Amazon's US site, it went down on the Canadian site from $213.66 to $209.99. I know that's not a big drop, but it's a hell of a lot better than an $80 jump!

But having thousands of titles to choose from digitally and not having my entire tv room full of DVD and Bluray boxes, makes up for the loss in quality in my opinion. Though I am tempted to keep this set I know I would be more likely to watch the digital versions.
wait till they start pulling titles from your collection for "contractual" reasons
