As for Randy, I heard he was stepping down from the Judge's table to a Mentor type position. Which if true, is a very bad idea. Throwing all three new judges in there without someone who has had the experience of how things are run could be a disaster.

That means u dont listen to rap, r&b, or pop because she does all 3. Either way its a good move if she signs on. Got Em!!

I think Lenny Kravitz would be a pretty good judge. They need to keep someone with ties to Rock on the panel if Randy does step down. Jonas however... meh. As much as I hear about the Jonas brothers they are another band I have never cared to hear a song by. Still say its too bad the more popular people either don't want to be a judge or want way too much money. Could you imagine some of the crazy comments someone like James from Metallica would tell the contestants? haha That would be something worth watching.

They need someone like Howard Stern but with more of a singing background. It works for AGT because there is such a variety but with Idol it is important to have judges who deal with singing on some aspect on a regular basis. Stern has been great for AGT though. Got Em!!

And now the tri-fecta is complete. Randy Jackson has left Idol.

Randy Jackson will become the latest judge to leave the "American Idol" line-up, according to TMZ. The singer/record producer was the last remaining member of the show's original panel after launching the first season with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul in 2002.

He has now reportedly left his seat on the judging panel, following in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, who both quit at the end of the 11th season earlier this year.

Jackson will reportedly keep his connection to "American Idol" by staying on as a mentor for contestants, according to TMZ. Mariah Carey recently joined the show's line-up, while Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are both rumored to be in the running for slots on the panel.

This is comin from Miley's biggest fan. Miley is a much bigger joke than Minaj. Nicki is way more talented and is a bigger artist when it comes to music. All Cyrus has are those kiddie shows and kiddie movies haha. Nicki isnt my number one choice but I would take her over Miley by 50 miles lol. Got Em!!

Urban, yes. Also a good choice, and good contrast for Carey.

They have two artists (if Urban signs), they need a producer or something else besides a 3rd singer to hold that last seat.
I would say give it to Jimmy...but I think I'd prefer him to stay as a mentor position for the contestants.


I really hope these new judges will actually be HELPFUL to the contestants and give good advice and not be afraid to be harsh when its needed.

Time to bust out all your pitchy impressions of everyone's favorite dawg, the talent hunter Randy Jackson. TV Guide, Deadline and Hollywood Reporter are all citing "inside" sources who claim the longtime "American Idol" judge is indeed heading back to the assessors' panel for Season 12.

Apparently, Jackson made the decision (or was offered enough of a salary bump by returning producer Nigel Lythgoe ... whichever) to reclaim his familiar seat after negotiations with Enrique Igelsias fell apart. If true, there's no word yet on who (if anyone) will take over for Jackson in a mentoring capacity. However, we can expect the finalized judges table of Jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj to be officially announced in the near future.

Man, this makes the "Modern Family" contracts brouhaha seem uncomplicated by comparison.

Why are they going back to 4 judges? It didn't work before and just ended up being to much long winded judge ramblings and not enough music. These shows are starting to be more about the judges, instead of being about the talent.

No it didnt work before because Ellen was one of the judges! What the heck were they thinkin? Haha. I think this panel will do just fine. Also the judges were finalized so its all good. Just glad we didnt get no damn Miley Cyrus or one of the Jonas brothers hahahahah. Got Em!!

So another season of Idol will be starting soon. I believe January 16th is the premiere. They have a whole new panel of judges. Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, & the only returning judge Randy Jackson. I like that lineup and think its more interesting than what we had the last 2 seasons. I hope these judges give better critique and dont be afraid to tell someone if they suck.

My favorite season so far was season 10. I really enjoyed that season. Last year was pretty good as well. Season 9 was up and down and had the least talent. Hopefully with the changes that are being made to the audition process, we get a lot of great talent. I just wished they would change the voting system. Other than that I am so ready for another season of Idol. Got Em!!

I'm looking forward to the season. Would of been happier had they picked someone besides Nicki Minaj but I suppose she is better than say... one of the Jonas brothers. Anyway, with the voting system the way it is I will make an early prediction (yes before even seeing the contestants) - it will be a young white country boy most likely with a guitar.
