I haven't played any video games since around 2004-05 on my old original Xbox. Do video games have a 720p or 1080i or 1080p resolution like tv and movies do?

I've mentioned this before but just incase anyone missed it... All the viewing on the my Kuro Pro-151FD plasma I personally have found that when watching Comcast cable HD in 1080i whether it be movies or tv programing that it's best to set Film Mode to Standard. When it's set to Advance for 1080i it looks more processed, digitized, like the processors are trying to catch up and compensate. I've been told this is because of Comcast's lack of bandwidth, that's true so I leave it to 'Standard' which has a little less overly digitized processing and it's more natural looking.
For bluray I set it to 'Advance' and it looks awesome! |

Yes, only for 24hz films. TV programs are all 60hz i think. Don't know about video games. Don't think they apply since their not 24p. The AMP mode on LCD's don't work with video games ether i think.

It would seem it would be best to leave the setting on Standard as you say non blu-rays look better and Standard also processes 24P. It seems like a hassle to go into the menus and change the settings each time going from blu-ray to DVD. Maybe I am being picky as I grew up with TVs that just had contrast, brightness, color, and tint controls and once you had those set, that was it. What basically is the difference between Standard and Advanced? The reviewers suggest Advanced for the settings. |

Advance mode is designed for a 1080p/24 source which is bluray content and in Advance mode it will upconvert it to 1080p/72. Standard mode does not upconvert a 1080p/24 source to 72.

My test results. After watching a lot of tv today which is Comcast HD 1080i I noticed a difference between Film Modes-Off, Standard and Advance. For 1080i content and what the http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showp...ostcount=15486 link showed as well is that Advance is 1080i - 71.93 Hz and Standard is 1080i - 59.94 Hz which was noticeable. But for bluray in 1080p/24 it was harder to tell the difference between Standard and Advance.

Just finished up calibrating my pro-101 with my new friend David of Firewired Home Theater. $150 per input which is a great deal seeing how I have a receiver, and I only needed 1 input done. He also took the time to walk me through the process, and to show me before and after paperwork. Truly remarkable how much more the picture pops. While it isn't night and day the picture just jumps off the screen now. Where as before it was good, but not this good. Highly recommended. If you live in the metro Atlanta area and need some calibrating done let me know by pm.

Hi everyone.
I've been offered a 500M and have a few questions. It's basically identical with the 500A (screen/(picture wise) except for the connections right? Also, is the DVI-D input good for hooking up with an HDMI source, can you adjust the picture setting like with the HDMI-inputs or is it a "pure" PC-input? Also, is it possible to hook up the Media Receiver from the 500A with a System Cable o HDMI converter. I guess it wont be able to control it but to at least use the extra inputs (stupid question I know)? |

Where are all the Kuro experts? We've got questions here.
![]() I need to know what cable I need to hook up a laptop to my 5020. Here is the HP laptop On page 14 of the pdf, (3) External monitor port, is that what I need? On both ends? What is that called? In the Kuro manual they call it analog rgb I think. Monoprice link would be great. ![]() |

Take you pick from Monoprice I have my older Xbox 360 (without HDMI) connected to my 101 thru the VGA input. Works great. Last edited by scweb13; 07-07-2010 at 06:31 PM. |
