Thanks for the compliment Kareface !

I have raised them because they sound & interact with the room way better then when I have had them down low . My first time experiencing this was when I had them stacked with a riser below each one . I would raise my 15" in front higher but my screen is not an acoustically transparent screen & the port on front is vary vocal & don't want the screen moving from that .

Please enlighten me on the Tactile Transducers ~ What are they for & What do they do ? Is it like a bass shaker for the couch ?

Thanks for the Compliment
Tactile transducers are pretty much bass shakers. You attach one or two of these to your seating area, attach to an amplifier, connect to the LFE output (second to your subs of course), and lets you 'feel' the lower frequencies, rather than hearing em.

As always, here is a little 'bathroom material' for you to print out...

Tactile Transducer FAQ

Congrats on the new subwoofer riser, at this point its going to hit puberty soon.

Here's my quick "project". Took about 15 minutes to put everything together, cost was about 10$. Not sure if it works -still have to try it out, BUT thanks for the idea.

Well, with my second A2-300 on the way, I took the time to build a second riser. Though I wanted to make it similar to my first riser, I didn't think I was going to produce it exactly the same, to the quarter-inch! I worked out well, and looks exactly the same.

I didn't have any more of that 1 1/8" butcher block to make the base out of, so I found some 3/4" shelving planks, 8" wide, and I glued and screwed 4 pieces together (2 running width-wise side-by-side, and 2 running depth-wise side-by-side, and then these 2 were stacked). Once this was done, I ended up with an 18" by 20" solid base.

I wrapped this in the same carpet as my basement carpet, and then attached the foam corners that my original A2-300 came packed in. These were first foam-glued to each-other, and then screwed into the base. The gaps were filled with 2" ridged foam insulation, and then the 'void' in the middle was filled with Elemental Designs 2" Acoustic Pyramid foam. The entire 'leg' section was wrapped in black felt to hide the imperfections, and it was done.

It's solid and strong. I even stepped onto it for a minute, and I'm close to 200lbs. No signs of not being able to handle it. After that, the kids were no problem:

Here is a picture of my original riser:

Congratulations. The riser looks excellent and the kids look beautiful.

Make sure the kids understand that they should not put their hands into the ports of the speakers and subwoofers. Little kids are known to put little items such as small cars, food, etc. in the ports.

Yea, every once in a while I see my youngest reaching into the port, and the A2-300 has the most 'inviting' port for little kids I have seen! Luckily when I cracked open the sub to fill it with Poly Fill last week, there was nothing inside, even after having it for 8 or so months.

Thanks!

Buy or build a port plug and plug the port when you are not home to discourage the kids from putting their hands in the hole.

Default Sub risers

Hey,

I missed the boat on Sub risers. I have no idea what they do.

Being in NZ sometimes we are a bit behind.

My subs are spiked to the floor on carpet/concrete. Would It be better taking the spikes off and possibly add some risers?

Can someone take a look at my gallery and give me some advise?

I have great base, however I am always looking at these kind of tricks.

A subwoofer riser can give you other benefits in addition to what the isolation feet or spikes can give you. Go back to posts #2 and #3. The effects of risers are explained there. Buiding a riser is so cheap and easy that really requires no argument.

Okay,

I read the info. So speaker spikes are dumb. They transfer the energy to the floor.

Ideally we need to raise the subs 2 foot off the floor with no spikes. I'm thinking of making 2 stands for my front subs. I can and they will look cool too. See photo's

The back sub almost has it's own stand built in. See photo. It is solid steel and has leveling feet and spikes. So on this one I should just take the spikes off. Right?

Definitely a couple of nice looking risers can make them look cool, particularly the one in the front. They may also improve their performance.

So I am going to get something custom made. Black steel speaker stands. For the front 2 Subs.

So do I,

1. Put spikes on the bottom of the stands?
2. Is two foot height recommended? I see some are a lot lower.
3. Do I put a rubber pad or something between the stand and the subs?
4. Going to leave the back sub. Should I take the spikes off?

Thanks for all your help Big Daddy. On this and other threads.
