If you want to watch Aladdin with the original Disney logo and in 1:66:1 then redeem the code included with the disc and watch it on Vudu. Their version is (at least for now) the old 1:66:1 transfer. Please note that it looks inferior to the newer transfer on the Blu-ray disc.

Even in my 180" projection screen viewed from only 6 feets away, this blu-ray movie looks amazing and sharp to me. Anyway...

Anyway, I am not trying to convince anyone, or change anyone's opinion about the release. It's a good release overall. I just think it could be amazing. |

The transfer seems identical to the one used on the international release. I am definitely gonna check my US disc and compare it to the rest but I have no doubt that it uses the exact same transfer. Disney nearly always does that with its classics.

So yes, an eyeroll is appropriate. It's like complaining about grain or other limitations in other productions. |

And why didn't Beauty and the Beast have those technical limitations? Edge enhancement *, noticeable aliasing (I actually believe all of these films have it on a small degree if you look close enough).. *To be precise, someone more knowledgeable than me one these matters said that the artifacts that look like EE could actually be products of a poor down-conversion from the original files so, there's that.. |

Are the problems that noticeable to detract from the experience while watching the film in motion as intended? I'm just asking because of the obsessive nitpicking that goes on these days. It seems like even reviewers will admit of a few "flaws" but admit they aren't really noticeable unless your specifically looking very hard for them or freezing a frame. Don't get me wrong, there are some transfers that are definitely problematic but I doubt this is one of them. As a film fan, I'm glad that we are able to purchase movies for cheaper than they've ever been on TVs that are bigger, better, and cheaper than ever. The amount of nitpicking on some titles amuses me however. We have it so much better these days yet people now want to screen grab a movie and absolutely pick it apart. I really wonder how some people can even enjoy movies these days with the constant complaining.

It's possible the transfer on Vudu could be replaced in the future. |
