that is a great one, and right near the front of the movie too, which makes it all the more humorous when you watch it again after you know what happens.

my favorite quote:

[Show spoiler]Tom: "she took a giant shit, right on my face. literally"

I haven't seen the film in YEARS, probably 10+ and I still know most of it by heart. One of my favorite lines of all time is after
[Show spoiler]Marv gets shocked, looks up at the hole in the floor and speaks in that shaky, high pitched voice "h-h-h-aarrrryyyyyyy?"

Man I can't wait to see this one again! It's gonna bring back lots of memories

i might eventually. i think i'm just a bit disgruntled today for one reason or another so it didn't put me in the exact mood to watch a complex thriller. i think Marcus' review on the last page is great and was a main worry of mine - it looks great and probably has a lot of "wow" moments, but little interaction and character building. it seems like the film is built more on the story of what Cobb does and the visuals than the characters themselves, which isn't exactly what i enjoy from films. but we'll see.

the gf wanted to see it really badly so i told her to go watch it with friends today because i had no interest in it. but if she likes it, i'm sure she'll come home and start hounding me to see it with her, so chances are i will have to eventually lol

I agree with Tbizzle, you should definitely at least give it a shot some day. Maybe stick it in the middle of your queue or something.

that is great. speaking of that scene i laughed hysterically today at
[Show spoiler]seeing the skeleton with his hair while being shocked
and still having his scream with the visual

and i LOVE when he first
[Show spoiler]falls through the floor, gets up and says, "wow. what a hole"

both films are terrific, and i've been debating if i'd purchase them.
i think i might, even though i won't watch them that often, they are exceptionally funny and great christmas / holiday themed films

i remember seeing the third film in theaters i've never been so disappointed.
i think that was the first time i realized that movies could actually suck

i was gonna ask, "WHERE DOES THIS RATE FOR ROMANTIC COMEDIES?! ABOVE OR BELOW (500) DAYS OF SUMMER?!" and then you told me, behind oh well 4/5 is still a great score
If it makes you feel any better, I rate 500 Days of Summer ahead of The Proposal, although I like both of them of course.

Default 127 Hours review

127 Hours: 4 out of 4

There is something that people celebrate the heroics because people do extraordinary things, things that amaze us and things, yet they may be ordinary people. Aron is not the amazing person we may want to think; rather he is a lonely kid that isolated himself from the world, his act of stupidity was a cost that lead him to his prolonged suffering. In 2003, Aron Ralston (James Franco) went hiking around in a Utah desert, when mistaking the boulder to hold, falls down in the isolated canyon with his hand trapped by that loose bolder when he fell in. The biopic avoids celebrating this philosophy or detailing about his history, rather it delves into the psychology of Aron, as he sheds in his true humanity lets echoes of his fantasies and memories to ultimately haunt him for the rest of his life; although he learns more about his humanity.

As the film beings, we are exposed into the care-free world that Aron lives in, ignoring the calls from his family, he goes off during the night for some hiking around the desert. The next day, when trekking back in the desert, he meets two girls who ask him where they are, and thus he guides them around, showing a few of the areas in the desert; after which he promised to go to a party with them. After they depart, Aron crosses the border when the rock suddenly loosen off and he falls of, and his right hand is trapped in the boulder. This is where it really begins.

If viewing it for a detailing of the life of Aron and his willingness to amputate his arm and live would be entirely missing the point; this is about how deprivation makes us go to our last resorts, as the days goes by, Aron creates delusions, fantasies, memories and nightmares that lets him explore the darkest places that people hide in their world, and we beg for redemption and it changes our lives. Much like the fictional character Scrooge from Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol”, but instead of an evil and bitter man of a higher class that prides in power, it is a middle class boy who is in no definition evil nor bitter, just that he puts little care to the people close to him that, like Scrooge, led him to his lonely life. He is very relatable to anyone that had experienced isolation, loneliness, and mental suffering. James Franco does an excellent job portraying the charismatic and likable character, yet is still very effective in his most dramatic roles when it reflects on the film's dying character; we do not idolize him or celebrate his cause, we just feel empathetic and pity for him.

The film is full of some of the most unbearable scenes in recent memory, and not just the amputation scene, but most of the film is set inside the basin which he is trapped in, and his imagination is sent wild, and the longer he waits, the more unbearable it is. Everything is top notched technically in the production area, with director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) taking a real narrative risk by limiting dialogue and character interaction; the movie is Aron's mind playing tricks on him as an attempt to keep him sane. The film is one of the most visually striking and unbearable films in recent memory, and one of the best films in 2010. Go see it!

First of all the idea and overall concept was brilliant and I always welcome a breath of freash air into current hollywood of remakes.

On the other hand, while it was a really well made movie, it lacked any heart and character development as far as I am concerned. As a result, I really didnt feel connected to the movie, it seemed too "techincal".

Once again, the concept is brilliant but as far as I am concerned this is far far far away from the best movies ever made.
I am sure its rating will go down on IMDB over time.

4.5/5

It actually did remind me a bit of the Matrix - an unlikely hero, line between reality and fantasy blurred, small group against huge enemy army, etc. Mostly it reminds me of Paprika which I still need to get in HD.
