The capture above are from divx bootlegs (which are literaly on thousands of internet pages), taken from a badly compressed DVD-5 (from DVD-9) in Pal format.

Since it's first recompressed to a single layer, and then recompressed to 1,4 gb or whatever by scene teams who apply tweaks to the image to make their release look "good", people should disregard these as representative of the blu-ray. I suggest you delete the link to the images

I just hope all the new blu-ray adopters who are getting this know in advance about grain or there's going to be a lot of unnecessarily disappointed Avatar owners. Me, I just want an eco case, first time I'm actually hoping for one.

Okay then, never mind, you'd think someone like me who loved the movie as much as I do would've known it wasn't shot on film.

There probably won't be any grain at all. I remember how incredibly clean it looked in theaters. The film was shot with a digital HD camera for live action scenes. Most of the film is done in CG so it's like Toy Story clean in those scenes. They also gave the film to Lowry to clean up the live-action segments to make sure they could be as clean as possible.
Now they're upping the bit-rate so that there's as little compression done to the image as possible.

You're not making any sense, there's no proof that those screenshots are from a Blu-ray.

they are from a screener disc too, so final encode will probably be different. the file was 45GB though so a good idea of what it will be. and i just grabbed them randomly I didn't go frame by frame to get good still shots and this is via software player, not a hardware player.

[Show spoiler]

Look at the hairs right above her forehead, it can't possibly be from a Blu-ray, it don't know what it is called, but pixelation?
