Right, blu-ray collectors never care about old movies. Just ask Arrow, Criterion, Severin, Code Red, Shout, Eureka, Vinegar Syndrome, Blue Underground, Kino, Artificial Eye, and 88 Films. Those labels NEVER sell any 20th century movies...

No kidding.

The films from this decade make up less than 15% of my collection.

Same here, 21st century marks the decline in film, quite literally unfortunately.

Phrases like 'in my opinion' are redundant in an environment like this. All posts on a message board are the product of the poster's personal opinion. Everyone is of course free to disagree with me.

Here's a link for Infernal Affairs on Amazon, it is on DVD, bluray, or available to watch instantly for $2.99. I think it has more substance and depth than the Departed which removes some of the grey shades of both characters, and also inserts a forced love triangle. The Departed was a lazy effort because Scorsese just copies and pastes his Goodfellas/Casino template onto a HK thriller, even reusing Stones songs from montages in his previous movies. The ending also undermines the dark tone of the original and hammers the audience over the head with the rat symbolism, and pretty much everybody except for Damon and Farmiga is overacting.

Infernal Affairs is available cheaply on Blu-ray and on digital format. Under $9 from Amazon.com & $4.99 on iTunes.

I appreciate what your saying and thanks for the link. I love the gangster shit. Scorsese could do it a million more times and I would love it. Nicholsons character in The Departed is phenomenal. I love it. Scorsese is my favorite director and The Departed is my third favorite of his.

The Departed is one of the rare Hollywood remakes of a foreign film that works. It was not lazy, rushed, or water downed which adds to its appeal. The issue is that as an adaptation of a film series, The Departed squeezes Westernized sequences from three films into one.

So while the Departed is a fantastically done film, it is essentially three movies in one condensed runtime. Infernal Affairs, Affairs Part II, and Affairs Part III are also excellent films and their biggest advantage is being spread across three feature films.

You don't have to watch all three to appreciate the series, The Departed is mainly focused on the first Infernal Affairs. Its interesting to witness the differences in police style, Hong Kong mafia versus Irish Mobsters, and ethics between the two films.

A big problem for me is the actors and politics. I've basically stopped going to the movies. The last two films I saw at the movies were Gone Girl and Fury Road. So, its been two years since I went to the movies.

My issue is mainly with movies made in the 2010. There are so many superhero movies and I'm just not into superheroes that much outside of Batman. Movies have become too polished with ADD type of editing.

I'm with you on Batman (1989 & Nolan) , though I do like the 2011 Thor film. And I'm dying to see Wonder Woman.

It makes the movie's title look like "HEAT TENSION". If they actually use this artwork in the US they're going to have a LOT of confused customers.
The Spanish title is actually pretty cool, "Policia Caliente!" I may have to order that version.

You're missing out, man. Just last year, we had The Arrival, Moonlight, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Nice Guys, Nocturnal Animals, Hell or High Water, Kubo and the Two Strings, Swiss Army Man, Don't Breathe, Hidden Figures, The Edge of Seventeen, and more that were in mainstream theaters and not superhero movies. Superheroes may sell the biggest, but there's a lot of great, interesting stuff coming out very month.

Arrival was brilliant, Denis V is a master. Swiss Army Man was wierd. Don't get me wrong, I like wierd shit but that flick was just silly. If you want to talk about A24 films The Witch was awesome, evil, and beautiful. And speaking of horror, The Conjuring 2 was baaad ass too.
