With the Mondo prints being quite limited, people would be foolish to try and reprint them, however, I have seen it happen. A few years ago I noticed two large poster dealers (actually it's one but they pose as two, and I think everyone knows who I am talking about) was posting knock-off versions of some of the Mondo prints such as Iron Man 2, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and a few others. I brought this to the attention of Mondo and at first I don't think they took it very seriously enough but after the dealers in question continued to post them, I contacted Mondo again and told them they were still being sold. I believe they then sent out cease-and-desist letters and the dealers pulled them from their site. But with so many different Mondo prints out there, it would not surprise me if people tried to pass reprints through, etc.

But remember the originals are always numbered and they are screen-printed (most of them by the amazing D&L Screen Printing based here in Seattle by the way), and some are even signed and numbered. Personally I think when a print is numbered it should be done so in pen to prevent those who decide to sell from changing the number on theirs to get a higher value (again I would not be surprised if this happens but is just speculation on part) and also since sometimes a Mondo offering is numbered only, but then the artist him/herself will offer some signed and numbered, someone could always forge a signature on theirs when they are signed in pencil. A long shot? Probably so but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to movie posters, etc.

I would say though the majority you see are on the "up and up" if you will, and they are legit. eBay is generally a place where you will find them but then there are websites devoted to art prints like this as well that are quite helpful. eBay sales mainly get the most exposure though.

As you probably already know, some of the Mondo prints can be quite valuable (and expensive), which ones are you looking at collecting?

Also never be afraid to ask a seller multiple questions. A good seller will take the time to give you the history of the print, etc. If they don't want to answer your questions, then don't give them your business. Also, when it does come to eBay, one thing you have to really stress is the condition of the print, and how it is packaged. When it comes to the Mondo prints, I believe most know that proper packaging is extremely important due to the fact that these prints can be quite rare and expensive, but when it comes to basic movie posters, most of the time (that I have seen) sellers over inflate the condition, what they would call "near mint", I, or someone else, may classify as "good". Packaging is key, because people don't seem to understand that if you toss a poster/print in a tube, it gets bounced around and mistreated during its journey. You have to anticipate that and package so it doesn't shift around and there are people who still believe that the shipping carriers treat packages like newborn babies, and the fact is they don't.

I like the Dean Walton prints for Alien and Terminator. They are going for around 80 dollars apiece, which seems like a fair price for a limited edition signed print (if they're real of course). The size threw me a bit, at 23"x33" roughly, that seems like it could be a ***** to frame, but I'm not sure if these prints conform to the normal 24x36 or 27x40 formats.

I'm also interested in a foreign print I've found from a website for Kill Bill, maybe you can provide some background and info on the print if I send you the link?

I dont know of the Dean Walton prints for Alien and Terminator, were those Mondo prints? Remember there are others who do limited edition prints, not just Mondo as there are random theaters across the U.S. that do one night screenings or special event screenings and have a gig poster for it. Yeah the screen prints are not movie poster size, the largest screen print I know of would typically be the 24x36 inch ones as Mondo does those sometimes.

Not sure if I can help out with the Kill Bill print I can try if you post the link. Mondo did a Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair print earlier this year to coincide with a special screening of the film for the first time as one long movie (not two individual films) for QT's birthday at the New Beverly theater in Los Angeles. QT was in attendance and they had artist Tyler Stout commissioned to do a print for the special screening. There was a standard and a rice paper variant made. Those were numbered only but then Tyler offered some himself which were signed and numbered by himself.

I couldn't find any info about yesterdays movies and prints, until I went to ebay. Hilarious how that's the first place people go with these prints. Also hilarious are the prices people try for initially on these prints. Too many people only looking to make a quick buck in this hobby.

Anyways, the movies yesterday were Hellraiser and 28 Days Later.

Sure, there will always be people who resell them the next day after a mystery screening, just like when the standard prints go on sale, there are people who have them on eBay 30 seconds after they sell out, but the mystery movie ones are only available at those events so very few people can get them. I don't blame anyone for reselling something, especially if someone is trying to so because they perhaps aren't impressed with the print and trying to pay down some of their costs as people fly in from all over for those mystery movie events. But yes, eBay tends to be the place to go and neither of last night's mystery prints are selling for people. Maybe a lot of people don't know about them yet, or they simply don't have enough interest yet. I am sure there will be a surprise or two in store as there are still four screenings left to be shown tonight and tomorrow.

As best of my knowledge, those Dean Walton prints are not affiliated with Mondo, or D&L Screenprinting, so I wouldn't expect anything spectacular.

I am in the process of responding to his private message as you pointed out those are NOT Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse prints. People on eBay tend to use the words "Mondo" or "Alamo" in their auctions to simply get more views to their auction pages, especially when what they are selling aren't Mondo-related prints. It's actually considered an eBay violation to link an item to someone or something it isn't. But these prints by Dean Walton were commissioned by a store in the United Kingdom called Mr. Shabba and that is where you can purchase them from. There five different ones made, each come in two sizes.

More information on them can be found here: http://www.firstshowing.net/2011/che...fi-poster-set/

The Mondo Mystery Movie print for Saturday's first screening was "The Iron Giant" by artist Kevin Tong. Standard edition limited to 245 prints with a variant limited to 70 copies. The second showing/print for Saturday should be announced by somebody shortly.

If you want that 28DL and Hellraiser one, I am actually surprised at how low the prices are since they were mystery movie exclusives, I figured they would be more expensive on the secondary market. Prices may drop on them, but they are actually kind of low already.

Yeah, those prices I feel are surprisingly low as well for the Hellraiser posters. Unlike "The Iron Giant" posters... Those prices are sky high like all the other Mondo posters I want/need/lust for!

I'm very much looking forward to the next Pixar/Disney related releases from Mondo.

On another note, I was able to buy my first Mondo poster, "The Raven" on Friday, so things are looking up. If only that Tom Whalen Steamboat Willie/Monster's INC fell onto my lap.

The Iron Giant one is nice, the standard one looks different than the variant, I actually like the artwork on the variant more. Sideshow Collectibles had announced since Mondo had partnered with them to do the Disney series of prints, that Sideshow would offer a variant of the Steamboat Willie one, but to my knowledge they have yet to offer it.

Surprisingly Sideshow does have a "Mondo-like" print on their website by Tom Whalen that hasn't sold out. It is not movie-related but is based on the DC super heroes. You can view it here:

Well the Jurassic Park from the 2nd mystery movie has been selling for about $200, and that print is far nicer than either of those, so I don't think it's that surprising.

That Iron Giant print is awesome.

Also the Assault on Precinct 13, they only sold the variant at the show, and the regular will be sold online later.

Looks like yesterdays movies were City of Lost Children and The Mist.

Someone scanned an original poster and then just prints off copies on an industrial printer and sells them.

I am surprised Jurassic Park hasn't been fetching more, but I had read some people complain about the design, but I felt it looked pretty good. Iron Giant is quite nice, and of course, Stout is amazing so anything he does is amazing. The best and nicest mystery movie print has been Akira by Stout, which is incredibly detailed.

Mondo announced their last mystery movie for this year, I think tickets went on sale today already but I am not sure, I got an email from them about it this morning and I skimmed through it and it made it sound like they were going on sale today. They say it is going to be epic.

I picked up a Drive poster from a local theater a few days ago. It was in pretty good condition, there were some staple holes in the corners which is a common thing with that theater, but other than that the poster was in good shape. I can't complain. It's a really nice poster and I really loved the movie. One of the best movies I have seen in a while...

Default New Tyler Stout Print Info.

Artist Tyler Stout has announced a new non-Mondo print that is making available on his website entitled "Le Loup de fer" and will be available during a 12-hour window starting at 12pm pacific time today (Thursday the 13th of October) ending at 12am (the 14th). It is an 18x24 five-color screen print on cream paper with metallic silver inks. If you are a fan of Samurai warriors, you may like it. The edition size of this print will be based on pre-orders so if you are interested in ordering one, the link and photo can be found here:

http://ironwolf15114.bigcartel.com/p...er-red-edition

If you ever wanted to own a Stout original print, this is a great chance, because usually his prints sell out in seconds so this way you have an entire day to place an order. Here is an image of it below:
