Seriously, I'm not sure how anyone could ***** about this stuff. Talk about society taking a plunge to a lower level.

It's a BETA test. This is _not_ a consumer level release product. It is Konami trying to learn from the market what it's actually going to take to release a quality product that will meet expectations come June 12th.

There isn't a single person in this Beta who has the right to complain one single bit. Period. The end.

Sure, I didn't like clamouring with the konami id craptastic site either, but it's craptastic now so it won't be later when the masses need to get it going. This is Konami's first time doing anything on this level. They have a lot to learn that they can only learn from a massive public beta.

The only thing that will be accomplished by anyone complaining about this Beta is no more of them. People complain there aren't any betas and game companies don't do enough testing then they ***** when they go out of their way and spend millions of dollars to do a large scale beta before release that is FREE to players so the company can ensure they meet all expectations of people who pay for the title later.

Wow. Just wow.

Anyone who complains about anything with this Beta has no right to even be involved in a beta program. They simply don't have the understanding required to do beta testing.

If it's released and you pay big $$ to play it and it falls apart, then *****. Complain like a mofo then and even contact the FCC! Hell, sue them for all I care. But, when it's not the final product just shut up already and enjoy the early experience we are getting and hope that more game companies not only give us this opportunity to 'try before we buy' but also put this level of quality assurance into making sure the final product is top notch and fully capable.
For you I shall describe the beta process its very unique and very sad and tragic.

-Beta released
Beta rockerz, yay, I want beta to have my baby, etc...
-Time passes
WHEN BETA GOING TO BE UPDATED, NOONE LOVES US, BETA WILL FAIL
-Update released
Beta rockerz, YAY, blah blah blah,
-Time passes
WHEN BETA GOING TO BE UPDATED, DEVS BETRAYED US, BETA WILL FAIL, PS3 will fail, SONY will fail, THE WORLD WILL FAIL...
-Update Released
SONY ROCKS, THe beta works, yay so fun...
-Time passes
BETA WILL FAIL, SONY SHOULD DROP THE GAME/SoFTWARE, DEVS LIED

Some of the things that happened made me embarrassed of things that beta testers would say in general and to the face of the devs.

Its almost sickening.

You find that these people either have the patience of a hyperactive 2 year old, or they have alternate agendas.

Now I admit I joked about the konami ID thing because it was kinda funny, about it being almost like a game in itself... only the worthy could pass, those with the quickest fingers who endured and mastered the system.

Now with p2p updates, I loved the idea of that, I even stayed and uploaded a extra day after it finished.

Im not really sure where the distress came about how long the update took... I guess I just didn't care, the thought of helping another person out well guess makes that the best deal to me personally.

Im guessing some folks have not yet endured trying to print something to a network printer at school and watch as your 15mb file transfers in bytes, and you prayed before the end of the day that it would print out for if it didn't you were held accountable.

I don't find it inappropriate at all that people are upset that Konami set a deadline for this and wasn't able to meet the demand, of any facet of the product, by that deadline. And then they announce the day the product is supposed to launch that it's not coming out, after people spent hours wading through their crippled system in great anticipation of the product. If an employee had a deadline to turn in a preliminary report and they told me the day before that they weren't going to meet that deadline, the employee would not be treated lightly, even if the report is preliminary.

Sense of entitlement? No. Sense of expecting people to meet deadlines and live up to what they've said? You bet.

It should go without saying, but: public forum, differing opinions, free speech yada yada. If people want to *****, they can. Period. The End.

"Wow. Just wow."

The Beta test did not miss it's deadline at all. In fact, it was right on time. And, the first issue that came up as a result of the Beta testing starting on time was that, surprise, the system could not withstand the amount of people trying to connect at one time. Therefor, the beta has to be altered to remedy what is one of probably many issues that will occur. Many may require downtime or long updates to fix as we go also.

The real deadline is June 12th. All of these issues have to be resolved by then or the hard sh*t hits the fan. For now, we enjoy the ups and downs of being a part of the process that makes June 12th so spectacular... We do not berate it (but we can constructively critique aspects of the gameplay and online experience one that part gets going) or we simply won't get the opportunity to participate again. It really is that simple.

If the Beta never got off the ground, then it missed its deadline. Has anybody in the US played it? No. Because we can't. It was crippled, obviously, days before the deadline, yet they waited to make an announcement the day of the release. Pretty weak. I don't care about updates . . . updates are fine. But at least get it ready for when it was originally planned.

If it were a free download it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But the fact that I made a special trip to preorder this, which I never do, for the express purpose of using this advertised "feature" of the preorder, and now it's unusable, is a bit irritating.

BStecke, I couldn't agree with you more. I go to school in a town where there is only a Hastings to pre-order at. When MGS IV comes out, I will be back home and there is no Hastings where I live, so I can't pre-order it down here. I had to call down to pre-order in St. Louis, get my brother to go to Gamestop to pick up my DVD and mail it to me, so I could get into the beta. Lot of work went into this for Konami to f'up like this.

You do understand that reliability isn't guaranteed with a beta, right?

*has nightmares of the warhawk beta forum*

Flashbacks of hatred and vileness continues to erupt...

Let the sins of the past be forgotten do not entangle your
self in the hatred, the black ooze that lays stagnate at the
bottom of every forum for it is flamable, so much so that it
does not need a match to set fire, but mearly a steamed head.

yeah, i realize that, but saying something is coming and then not being prepared for it, is not a good practice for anybody to be in, on top of the fact they knew a few days back probably that the beta wasn't going to be ready on 4/21, yet they said nothing about it til the last possible moment, after people wasted there time all last night trying to log into the beta.

if i said, i have a present for you, come on over to get it, and then when you did, i said, its not ready a few more days, you would be kind of pissed that you made the trip over to my place and i didn't tell you til the very last minute.

Well put. Having stable and consistent servers should be the foundation of any online game. Hopefully, Konami will trully adjust their server levels accordingly.

I'm glad the Beta has been pushed back, because I was one of many stuck, unable to successfully register for a Konami ID. I switched to Firefox, and did everything as instructed, but it never worked for me. Now, I hopefully will have a shot of at least participating in the Beta.

Konami really should do away with the Konami ID for this game. Having it only seems to offer redundancy when compared to the existing PS IDs.

In hindsight, it would have been smarter to give out the beta codes, allow registration & allow downloads in smaller quantities over a longer period of time.

Im sensing they did not realize how much mgs4 was hyped.

Im guessing there are more preorders for mgs4 then there was for mgs3 muahahaha.

Correct. Companies that handle MMORPGs have had to deal with this kind of stress for a long time. Which does not mean they always handle it out well btw hehe.

It is now customary to let out Beta access by groups, 3000 here, check servers, 3000 there, re-check, etc.

Character creation video Make sure you download a HD version.

Some great options in there and a masterfully modeled and textured character and equipment. Beautiful.

If something goes wrong, they'll know exactly who was using large bandwidth. Think again about what you're doing...

EDIT: Whoa....you can change your voice too!!! That's new. Really great customization.
