Hell yea blujacket. paramount can eat feces in hell. hd-dvd is inferior in every way. The fact that bribery at the expense of consumers is necessary to keep it afloat means it is barely hanging on. If you don't jump off a sinking ship in time you get pulled under with it.

Yea Richard, I don't know why the Blu side is panicking about Paramount. Once Sony, Fox, Disney, start releasing the big titles, the dark side doesn't stand a chance.

I will wait the 18 months and see what happens. The HD DVD format is not what I am looking for. Paramount will be back, and Universal will go neutral even sooner. Blu is only going up. If I want Transformers, I will rent it ON sdvd.

You will 'buycott' anyone? As in other humans, making choices?

Are you a Coke person or a Pepsi person? American car or Import? Democrat or Republican?

Do you boycott the people who are the opposite of you on those choices?

I do agree to one point: If a clear winner does not emerge soon, both will die. At this point, I have more BD titles then HD DVD titles, but at least I am enjoying movies in High Def. If this war kills the High Def end of the business, then no consumer will win.

The thing I would try to do is to support High Def over regular DVD. That is where the energy should be directed.

By Jumping on the neutral side you are adding fuel to the format war, yes waiting 18 months for some greats movies will be tough, but supporting them by going neutral will prolong the war longer then attended. Support Blu-ray and let HD Die a peaceful death.

I was going to go neutral too cause there are movies i want in HD from universal but if i do that i just add to the fire that they are still selling movies in HD so why quit and go to blu-ray or neutral.

This is sorta like my view on drugs, clean up the addicts and there will be no one to sell too, so there will be no need for drug dealers! Universal and now Paramount are the drug dealers stop feeding them cash and they stop selling there drugs!

I am not an angry consumer, I actually wish that all studio's would just go format Neutral and just see what is the dominate format, cause at the end of the day the only people they are hurting are the consumers buying and not being able to buy there products, and forcing people to go out and buy a different product just to get a result if everything was just neutral!

I went neutral today and picked up the Xbox 360 add on at my local Best Buy over lunch hour. They had a promo and I got a free copy of 300. I feel bad but this thing is going to drag on for a least for Xmas 07 and 08.

I'll sell my 300 after watching it along with King Kong and the 5 free ones HD-DVD sends. After that I just invested about $100 in a throw away player for the next year or two.

However, I'm done with buying movies from Blu or HD-DVD. I probably will sell my small selection of Blu and rent from now on. The greed of all these studios is over welling.

I just bought the XBox 360 HD DVD add-on. Couldn't pass up the deal with 300 and King Kong for free, plus the 5 free movies from Toshiba. I don't have the XBox 360 but I've been reading that this is very easy to connect to a PC. My system will handle HD DVD no problem, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I'll probably get the A2 or A3 later this year.

Whether or not you go format neutral is a personal decision. These are only formats people, not a new religion. If you truly love movies and truly enjoy high definition, then jump in and enjoy the waters.

Man, people are losing their minds. The Paramount news is less than 24 hours old so the significance of this matter (or insignificance) really won't be seen for a while. Now we'll get to see people's teeth. I'm up for it . At this point I'm really more concerned about the costs of upgrading to HDMI 1.3 gear. Eek.

Oh, and I wish someone in the BDA would throw 150 mil Criterion's way.
They've got such a delicious cache waiting for this affair to end.

It is one of my great disappointments with today's society. People just 'accept' garbage when they can demand better.

Next time you look at yourself in the mirror look closely. You may see that you have simply turned into a cow that is herded any direction the money wants you to go. You have lost all of your conviction, ambition and free thought. You have become a slave.

Someone who would willingly accept sub-par technology and lower standards just because 'they can't live without transformers' is the lowest form of life. To me anyway. It disgusts me that one would sacrifice things that will affect millions of other people for years to come over such materialistic and small matters.

It's not about Blu-ray or HDDVD. It's about the lying and misinformation and the behind closed doors deals. Why do you think they didn't publish how much they got paid in that press release? Is it because it would damage the worthiness of the news? Would it change the message drastically? Yes.

Demand better. Have the conviction to stand behind it. As an individual you do make a difference because when individuals begin to stand before long you have an army. It's what wins wars and supports freedom.

Read my signature.

This is the funniest post I have read on any of the forums I go to in regards to the format war. Guess what kids, Toshiba was desperate, they pooled their resources with MS, and pulled a desperation move. They bought themselves some ground, same as Sony paid Best Buy for all those endcaps and boys in blue, same as has happened I'm sure many more times than any of us are aware of with both formats. The Divx fiasco a decade ago made it very clear that all of these studios can be bought at a price (Fox seems to be the lone holdout this time, due to copy protection).

If you want every available movie in HD at your disposal, you go format neutral. It's about the movies, not about being loyal to giant corporations on both sides who couldn't care less about you. Sony=Panasonic=MS=Toshiba, if someone tells you otherwise, to steal a line from an MGM movie I hope comes out on Blu soon, they are selling something (most likely Blu-Ray or HD-DVD).

You see, that's where you're not quite looking at the whole picture. By supporting the format war to continue you support M$ and their strategy to move all HD to 720P VC1 DD downloads. If you really love movies and would like to watch it in HD than there can be only one goal: one format and soon. Get this thing adopted by the masses or it will stay a niche market.

For myself, I don't rent much, normally I'd rather purchase. I don't see myself downloading movies at all, so they won't get my money that way.

If the add-on works as expected, I'll be able to watch Transformers and the Bourne movies to start. Screw the format war, I'm done with it. I'm going to enjoy high def regardless of format now.

Not interested in Sponge Bob or swamp land, but I hear what you're saying. I'm just done with this format war now. Who ever wins, wins.

It's about trying to make sure the movies you want are available using the best technology possible.

50 GB Blu-ray disks are out there. High bit rate AVC codes have been done and have proven to provide excellent PQ on long duration films. Lossless sound is a reality.

As I see it there is no honest excuse for studios not to be supporting these capabilities.

I will *NOT* support a medium (HD DVD) which does not give me these things.

I'm not asking for things that are not already reality. I'm not holding out for terabyte disks supporting gigabit per second data rates. I'm not requiring for lossless encodes of the video stream. I'm not demanding Digital Cinema 4K resolution. I'm just want what's already available. Studios who refuse to provide that have no place in my home or office.

Anyone going format neutral just because of the last 30 or so hours is a sell out. Plan and simple.

If you want every movie then just be patient. When one format wins every movie shipped in the losing format will be re-done in the winning format. If you don't think that will happen you are just not facing reality.

I want Blu-ray to win because it *IS* the better format. Within, at most, five years of its winning all the movies out there on HD DVD will be ported over (at the very least, re-done properly at best) to Blu-ray.

I've been on this planet for a long, long time. I am patient. I advise everyone else to be also.
