NorFan, thanks for all the updates and keeping this thread on top of the latest developments.

These upcoming lower end United Artists SciFi/Horror titles on KINO are all fun, but I have to wait for discounts on many because none are worth MSRP without a serious nostalgic attachment to them.

The way Amazon sales have gone, I'm sure they'll all be $9.99-$12.99 at some point.

I just ordered the DE disc of This Island Earth a few days as a Christmas gift for my mother. Excited to see what she thinks of it as it is one of her faves.

Very excited to be getting Invisible Invaders on blu-ray, but then, I was very excited to be getting 4D Man on blu-ray. Hope the same does not happen here also. I hope that Kino continues to work on getting 4D Man to high definition. Blu-rays like this, 50's horror and sci-fi usually end up being day one purchases for me, I love this genre of film.

Big news, barring bad transfer.

Coming in late '16 in the UK.

To be released second quarter 2016. It Came From Outer Space was Jack Arnold’s first foray into science-fiction filmmaking, in which he became acknowledged as an auteur. He later went on to create more science-fiction classics such as Tarantula and The Creature of the Black Lagoon, the latter also made in 3D. The film broke new grounds in science-fiction with the “invaders” who had only arrived to save their species, intending no harm to humans, being given a more sympathetic reception than aliens seen as a threat in earlier films.

A fireball crashes to earth near the desert home of amateur astronomer John Putnam (Richard Carlson), who races to the landing site to discover a spaceship which is quickly covered by a landslide. With the evidence gone, the authorities are sceptical that Putnam really saw a spaceship land. Are the invaders peaceful or is their purpose on Earth more sinister?

Find out in this spectacularly filmed movie from the Golden Age of 3D filmmaking!

Director: Jack Arnold
Aspect ratio: Academy original 1.37-1
Region: B

Thanks Akijima, this should look superb, if the reviews of their 3-D edition of Inferno are any indication (I've only watched the 2-D version so far, although my disc is signed by Rhonda Fleming!). I'm not usually a big fan of Richard Carlson's bland earnestness but it's put to good use in this particular film. I'm hoping they give it a region-free release as well, as they did with Inferno, otherwise I won't be able to enjoy the 3-D. Maybe I'll send them an email.

The Region B disc of Inferno does in fact play on Panasonics (though with a slightly different remote trick), so this one may work as well. I sent them an email in any case.

Ohhhh, how I would love to see a stateside release of ICFOS. Second quarter would make it in April, May or June. Maybe WE will get an announcement some time soon (probably not), would be a great 3D release. Kathleen Hughes in 3D, yeah, I can deal with that, she looks so sexy ! ! ! It erks me to see so many of these classic horror and sci-fi releases overseas, to find out that there will be no release, right here, in the very country they call home.

Bummer. I had recently picked up the import dvd release on a whim, really enjoyed this movie (I had only seen it previously on broadcast tv in b/w in the late 60's/early 70's) and was looking forward to an upgrade.

I'm very much looking forward to this release. The cover could use a little more of the typical fifties sci-fi touch though (where's the MONSTER?).

I'll likely take a chance that it plays via the same remote control shortcut as Inferno (and will post the results here either way).

Also: the Panamint web link posted earlier no longer leads anywhere, and the item is no longer listed on their site. (Not that this portends anything, just in case anyone was searching for the link/listing.)

So, I was able to take a look at This Island Earth from DE a few nights ago and I was slightly disappointed. The best improvement is color saturation, but grain retention and compression are a mess. I would give it a 5/10 for PQ, but it of course still trumps the DVD. The DTS-HD MA 2.1 track is serviceable, but don't expect much oomph just because it has the LFE channel. I'd give the AQ about a 5/10 as well. If this is a favorite for any of you I wouldn't hesitate ordering otherwise I would wait for a better eventual release.

Default It Came From Outer Space

It Came From Outer Space? That tears it. Why in the HELL do so many of these American classics get European releases without a region 1 counterpart?
