One of my best friends said the same thing so I might have to see it before it leaves the theater.

~~We just saw Aquaman for the second time yesterday, but this time in IMAX (non 3D) and still liked it as much as I did the other week. The visuals are still really good, and I can't wait for this one to come home. I have a feeling it will be one of those Saturday afternoon nothing to do watch movies.

Saw it yesterday, didn't love it but really liked it. The HDR on this one will be insane, some parts literally had me squinting. 3rd act is also absolutely bonkers, can't wait to revisit that at home!

IMDB lists wrong info though as IMAX ratio is 1.9:1, not 1.44:1, also about 70% of the movie is exanded rather than the 90% Wan was saying. For people wondering about the ratio itself it's more of the same old, same old - clearly open-matte, shots framed for 2.35:1, though there are some shots that do benefit from the larger ratio (most notably in the 3rd act). I'd say don't expect this one to have an IMAX ratio at home, barring some "IMAX Enhanced" version. Almost definitely a 2K DCP as well, most likely a 2K DI, but literally 99% of the movie is probably 2K visual effects so it doesn't make too much of a difference.

Watched the movie in Imax 3d, holy sweet baby Jesus this is easily the second coming of visual and audio spectacle ever since Avatar 3d. Mind was utterly blown away especially the Atlantis and Trench scenes. The story was as expected pretty basic although every time Nicle Kidman was on, I somehow get teary eyes, it's like damn her performance was so far and beyond everyone here bar Willim De Fo maybe. Overall really enjoyed the movie, it's just a pure fun and visually insane movie with uplifting spirit and testosterone I simply can't say no to.
This is gonna look astoundingly insane on UHD 4k and 3d tho, the Imax 3d was so good I might rewatch it, never done that with any movies before.

LOL Red Letter Media thinks even this movie took the subject matter too seriously. Lordy, I guess they want everything to be a comedy.

Someone with a webcam gets clicks for complaining about things instead of being positive? Shocking.

I actually have zero doubt their thoughts are genuine. They're very consistent across hundreds of reviews over many years. They think anything genre like this... super heroes, fantasy, etc... should be silly schlocky fun. They dislike when anything genre takes itself seriously unless it's an intense drama like Annihilation or something like that. That's just their taste.

Saw the movie with my kid. He liked it a lot. I found it watchable. Wan definitely makes it feel like every penny spent on the film is on screen. I expect this to look and sound amazing on 4k.

The movie was a bit off. Amber Heard just never quite finds her groove with Jason Momoa. She doesn't feel natural at all in her acting.

I never bought Jason Momoa as "Aquaman". I was always overly aware I was watching Jason Momoa playing a character. He never disappeared into the role for me. When I watch Christopher Reeves playing Superman, or Christian Bale play Bruce Wayne/Batman, they inhabit those characters and become them for me while watching the movie. I always felt I was watching Momoa playing Momoa.

Now, that isnt horrible as he is a fun, charismatic, likeable guy, so it isn't as horrible as it could have been.

This is gonna be a home theater guilty pleasure, but I would have a hard time recommending the movie if the visuals/audio weren't so effective through most of the movie.

This is the first review of theirs that I completely disagreed with. I can't believe they did not recommend seeing it...even for the visuals.

If you have similar tastes I'm sure they are, but I very much do not.

Still love Best of the Worst though.

Hopefully this gets Dolby Vision like Justice League did. Aquaman will definitely be one of the best looking 4K Blu-rays of 2019. Those colors!
