A realistic choice would be Hayley Atwell. She already has fanboy cred and she can act pretty well. She is actually British unlike a lot of fan picks.

Hayley's too old; they'd want someone younger to draw in teen boys. I'd be surprised if they cast anybody over 25 for Lara.

Oh my god, not the TMNT writer... That was the worst film of 2014 by a huge margin, in my opinion.

I could definitely see Emily Blunt as Lara Croft though. Does anybody else think the same...?

Gemma Arterton is the perfect choice for Lara, but it looks like they will be going for an even younger actress.

In my opinion, the model (Camilla Luddington) who gave Lara's body and voice in the reboot game, should play it in the new film. That's how I imagine the new Lara.
Actually, the new film should be an adaptation of the great reboot game.

A Tomb Raider reboot is on the fast track with a trio of female directors reportedly lined up for Lara Croft's next movie adventure.

Oscar-winning Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow, Twilight filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke and Deep Impact's Mimi Leder are all on the shortlist for the blockbuster, according to Tracking Board.

The Walking Dead's Tricia Brock was previously said to be attached to the Warner Bros and Eidos-produced film, however the TV director passed on the chance to make the project.

Evan Daugherty of Divergent and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fame is writing the script for the Tomb Raider reboot.

Bigelow is the most recognizable of the three new Tomb Raider contenders having bagged an Academy Award for The Hurt Locker in 2010 and a nomination three years later for Zero Dark Thirty. Her credits also include action movie classics Point Break and Strange Days.

Tomb Raider previously spawned two film versions with Angelina Jolie, 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003 sequel Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

I like the direction of the video game reboot. Have Lara be a recent archaeology graduate making her first forays into that particular world. Obviously she wont be cocksure and clued up at the beginning, but through trial and error she begins to reveal hidden depths in adversity. Thrown in her dead parents angle / angst and they might have something. It'll be obvious as anything, but it's a start.

Not sure about the choice of scribe. I'd have given the writer of the game reboot a punt, Rianna Pratchett.

In normal, non-Hollywood life to call the above two old would be ludicrous, but in the film industry you might be correct unfortunately. I think they'll go young; early to mid 20's, but looks younger.

Kaya Scodelario. She's popping up in interesting indie projects, plus she's gotten some mainstream exposure in those Maze films. This could be her breakout vehicle IMO.
