The break in time shouldn't be so bad. I mean, I barely get to watch TV but between my wife and kids, 100 hours or so will happen in a day........ kidding !!! I plan to leave the TV on during nights a few days a week to help pass some hours by. I don't think it's something to worry too much about like it was with older plasma technology.

Definitely looking forward to this weekend
The kind of tweaks the calibrators do you can not do unless you have the equipment and programs to break into the service menu, believe me when they send these sets out they are pushing alot of blue because the blue suppossedly looks better in the show room, I am sure there are other reasons but the calibrator, like on my 5020 calibrated my grey scale to be almost perfect. They have a device that reads the color on the screen and they make adjustments in the service menu via a computer hook up and tweak these settings. I thought the 5020 looked good before, now it looks fantastic like unbelieveablely good. Just my two cents.

It looks like its going to be the kuro, its the last of the best tv i have to. im still looking out for what samsung's going to announce thats a step up from the A950. if the kuro gives me problems, or somehow i dont like it ( yeah right) then i'll just sell it and get the samsung. ether way i win
I would say the new Panny's are going to be off the chain probably better than the Samsungs that is for sure, but still not the league of the KURO.

Thanks, I know all about ISF calibrations and service menus and such. Not sure if Pioneer does or doesn't do it, but anytime you or someone else plays around in the service menu it may or may not void the warranty. Something people should check before going that route.

On top of that, like I said I'm just gonna adjust the picture settings to what I like in the end. Some day when I get my own home theater/ listening room I will go that route but until then.............

Well no Kuro for me until the 18th. That is the soonest it can be delivered to me since they (Best Buy/Magnolia) didn't have one in stock. I will be without a TV downstairs to watch come this Monday. Have a feeling time is gonna go by real slow during this period .

Andrew,

Believe me it will be worth the wait. I had to wait from the middle of July till the middle of September for my Pro Elite 111-FD to be delivered because I was waiting for the custom made rack to be made and delivered for the Pioneer and the other components. I have been so happy with the performance you have no idea.

Yeah.......... it is worth the wait. I'm actually real happy that I am getting one before they disappear. I still can't believe..... no more KURO's .

You've reminded me that I need to start looking again for an A/V cabinet. My problem is I haven't found one yet that doesn't look like cheap fake wood and can handle over sized gear. I can't see myself spending 2K on something that looks cheap. I am also happy that I finally get to have my center channel right below the TV. Should sound even better now.

The PRO111FD is going to be mounted on the wall with a fully articulating wall mount. I love those mounts. Got one On the LCD in my bedroom and it makes things so much easier.

Hi Andrew,

I had racks made up by Adona Corp:

http://www.adonacorporation.com/audiorack.html

I had them make up something from the center section of this for the TV and some components:

http://www.adonacorporation.com/av45tv.html

I have one of these for my Turntable system and will also have one made when I move for the Pre/Pro, digital equipment and the AM/FM Tuner:

http:
//www.adonacorporation.com/av45g3.html

The Digital rack will be the same but 4 or 5 tier.

These are my amp stands and these are stacked as:

http://www.adonacorporation.com/av45cs2.html

Mine are all in black.

By the way, if you decide to order from Adona Corp, contact them through and as a result of their ads on Audiogon. They will split shipping with you that way and as I recall you may get a better price. Certainly the shipping will help to keep the price down. Granite is heavy stuff. These are granite shelves with special adhesive sandwiched to special MDF material that neutralizes each other for sound.

LOL! This is all very funny to the guy with the $100 stand from Big Lots - myself. $1,500 stand? Madness!

Not really madness for racks and cabinets when you are putting $12,000 - $22,000 worth of gear on/in them. As an example, my $1100- $1300 rack is/will be supporting my turntable, tonearm, phono preamp, and cartridge with an actual total price tag of about $30,000. You need to protect your gear. Racks and cabinets add to the stability, rigidity, of the system and can ultimately have a benefit in the audio and visual performance of the components and system.

See, I can understand that for you, Rich - but meanwhile, what do I have on my stand? A $450 center, a $1,000 receiver, $650 of Blu-ray players, a $400 surge protector, and old video game systems. In your case, it's more than understandable! But in mine, I just can't justify the expense of those gorgeous looking Adona stands.

JJ,

I certainly can appreciate that. I had suggested these to Andrew because is another high end lunatic here at Blu-ray.com.

I really like the rack/stand (the one with the TV on it, lots of space!) I could put all the things I want to use out & ready to go. (it's about time)...

I briefly looked at a few of them and they had some that I liked the style of, I still can't get past the wood veneer finish. The veneer that is used looks like contact paper to me. Same goes with the Salamander ones. Once they get even a tiny scratch it looks bad.

All the ones I have seen so far don't justify the price tag. I'm hoping to find something stealthy that looks like a piece of furniture. Might even have to buy something and modify it for my use. I hope not though......

Alright, so, where exactly does one get a Kuro t-shirt around here?

Anyways, I've finally made it into Kuro heaven. Sort of. The TV is in my living room. Just, still....wrapped. As it will remain until the weekend. Drats! Ever hate your job for the dumbest reason?

Anyways, I had been eyeing the PRO-111, which went out of stock on me. Then I was eyeing the PRO-101, but pricing in Canada is redonkulous, so I finally "settled" for a 5020. All's I have to do now is

1) Never, ever, EVER let a PRO-111 or PRO-101 sit beside my TV, and
2) Never, ever, EVER make friends with someone who has a PRO-111 or PRO-101.
3) Pay the TV off. *sigh*

Anyways, just thought I'd pop in and say hi, as my guess is that once the TV is plugged in, set up, and calibrated, I may dissapear from the forums for an unknown period of time!
