Yeah I'm really, really surprised at how good the frames look. I'm heading back to Michaels today or tomorrow to get some more. At $9.99, it's a steal.

Very nice. They really add to the HT experience. Don't want to hijack but I added this to mine recently

Poster cost €30 from Amazon and as it isn't of standard size I had to get the frame made especially. The guy who did it charged a mere €65 to make the frame (including glass), remove any blemishes from the poster, glue it down and mount it. Total dimensions are 42 inches (w) x 32 inches (h) x .75 inches (d)

Five short of one hundred Euro was the total cost. Well pleased I was. And its a real eye catcher as soon as you walk into the room

Were those dimensions you listed of your Dark Knight poster WITH the frame? It looks like a British Quad style poster which is 30x40, so I assume your measurements are with the frame.

Also, NEVER EVER glue down a poster. It is called "dry-mounting" and diminishes the value of the poster by altering the original state of the poster. Plus it is a permanent process. The Dark Knight quad poster is a very nice poster but also quite rare, and by gluing it down, you de-value it. Some advice for next time. It is simply best to have the poster "loose" between the glass and the backing of the frame, and always make sure the backing of the frame is acid-free. You can tell it is acid-free by it being off-white and also rough to the touch as you run your hand over it. But your poster looks quite good, that artwork wasn't used on the U.S. marketing campaign, but we had exclusive artwork on some of our posters that weren't used on the International styles.

Let me know which originals you are looking for as I only deal in authentic theatrical originals, never any type of reprints or reproductions. And sometimes it costs more for a reprint, strangely but true, but only in SOME cases. Originals can get quite expensive depending on the poster, and other factors.

After studying the poster, I am suspicious if it is an original. I am not trying to step on any toes here, but the reason why I say that is because it appears to be a British Quad style which are 30x40 inches in size and horizontal in design (unlike U.S. movie posters which are vertical in design and are 27x40 inches).

The website address though is what grabbed me. In the UK, the British Quad posters to my knowledge had the .uk at the end of it. This poster doesn't and I suspect it may be a reprint.

Perhaps the original poster can provide some more info, is it double-sided or single-sided? What the link is on where he bought it, etc.

How I missed these posts, I don't know, my apologies. I will PM this message to you guys who inquired about Watchmen, etc.

Hellboy 2 advance I have in stock, double-sided, glossy too.

For Watchmen, that made FOUR different styles for the U.S. theatrical campaign and were quite difficult for movie poster dealers to get. There were two advance styles (known as advance style "A" and "B"), as well as a "Final" style, and then also an IMAX style which featured different artwork.

I have all four styles in stock, rolled, double-sided, authentic. There were also International styles made, the International advance "A" was the same as the U.S. style "A" except the U.S. styles stated the actual release date, whereas the International versions, which were more common compared to the U.S. versions, stated "In Theaters 2009".

For the "Final" style the U.S. style had the date at the bottom, whereas the International version stated "Coming Soon" at the bottom. When it comes to collectibility, the U.S. styles are where it is at, however, when there is an International version of a movie poster made that has different artwork not found on the U.S. styles, that are sought after as well.

I have images of all four U.S. styles available. Contact me through private message or email me directly if you need more info. Each are 27x40 inches in size, double-sided, mint unused condition. I would post here but I need to figure out how to take a JPEG image and make it smaller as mine seem too big to post here.

Also, I am going to be offering a cast signed double-sided final style to my customers very soon. I have only TWO of them to offer and that's it, autographed by all seven actors, co-creator Dave Gibbons, and director Zack Snyder.

Nah you arent hijacking. All are welcomed. That baby cost you a pretty penny. I hope it turnes out to be authentic. Since Jon invaded my post he has shed the light into the world of buying and spotting out authentic original movie posters. Hes a great guy. Evenly recently checked out one of my purchases from another buyer to verify if it was authentic.

Thanks again Jon.

Haha yeah, same with me. I'm always coming to Jon asking if he thinks a particular item is an authentic, original poster, and he never hesitates to give me his honest opinion. But of course, now the problem is that I can never live with getting reproductions or reprints anymore It's original or nothing!

I've never bought and framed a poster so I'm far from an expert. Anyway, its single sided, bought it from Amazon.com, the poster dimensions are 30 x 40 (frame adds 2 horizontal and vertical inches) and obviously a reprint as they are selling them to all.

Wasn't aware of the dry mounting thing but since I'm not particularly interested in the sell on value (its mine for keeps!) its not that big a deal. It was a bit damaged in the post so the guy said he'd stick it down to hide the ripples in it. I've got another of similar size (the one with Harvey Dent, Batman & The Joker's faces) but despite what I#ve just said I'll keep your advice in mind.

At the end of the day though, it looks good and thats more than enough for me

I know how you feel. The ones I really really want are the Grindhouse double feature, Clockwork orange and Boondock Saints... but all I can find are reprints... and what few originals I can find are waay too much for me to justify or have some kind of imperfection.

I almost bought the 3 as reprints... but I cant bring myself to do it. (not that there is anything wrong w/ reprints. But after buying blus I havent bought any DVDs again either lol) So... I guess ill just have to find new ones I like.

This may sound really stupid but what exactly is the difference between an original and a reprinted poster? Obviously I know what the difference between an original and reprinted piece of artwork is but surely all posters are reprints?

Unless of course some of the originals you guys are talking about are one-offs created by the film companies?

Basically the originals are the same type that you see hung in movie theaters promoting a movie. They're usually double sided with a "faded" side on the back side. This makes it good for backlighting and overall gives it richer color. These are going to be the ones generally that can be considered collectible and gain in value.

Reprints are the type you see in Walmart and such that are generally around $10 and have a white back to them and are generally made of cheaper material. These aren't likely to increase in value except in rare instances.

There aren't any stupid questions we all start off somewhere.

Aside from having the image printed on both the front and a reverse image on the back that appears faded they also tend to be bigger. Originals tend to run 27"X40" here in the States where poster prints at walmart or Spencer's Gifts tend to be smaller usually 24"x36". Also the level of detail when you compare them to a print in person is like HD to SD lol.

Some are glossy too- I like them. In the UK they tend to sell what is called a "quad" which is just like yours, a sideways image. Since I do not own any of them Jon might be able to fill in the blanks a bit.

If you 're re going to hang it and forget about it there isn't anything wrong with a print. But if you get an original and keep if in great shape there is a chance it might go up in value. It depends on how many were released and how much of a demand for that poster there is. So the better the movie the beter chance the price will go up.

Since starting this thread its been a fun little hobby on the side. Im not really that big into it as I only have 4. But Id love to get more. Just so happens the ones I want are older movies and can be a bit pricy.

Check out what I just picked up. One of the Blockbusters close to me is closing down and I went in to check out their selection of Blu-rays. I stumbled upon some posters, which included the one below, a poster of the Joker with the Batman playing card, a Watchmen Poster of Rorschach, and a Star Treak poster. All of them had defects except for the one that I got, which sucks because I really liked the Watchmen one. I ended up getting this one for $14.

Maybe you guys could help me out. All of the posters I have are the rollup ones that you can find at Walmart. This one is better material, though... like cardboard and it's bumpy. It kind of looks like some of the posters that JJ has. What kind is it?

Hhmm, any idea what's the market price for the original Iron Man Teaser poster?

In Singapore, original posters are really expensive. I bought the Iron man Teaser for US$60 (Just the poster itself, without any frames).

I also bought the Spiderman 3 (The Battle Within) UV coated original poster for US$73.

I also have a ton of reprints as I simply cant afford to buy all originals as you can see, the cost is insane.

Gene, are you buying your originals there in Singapore or via mail order from the U.S.? The Iron Man advance teaser double-sided is quite a rare poster as most dealers don't have them in stock anymore. I do, and the price hovers right about the $60-75 range but as they grow even more scarcer, the price will rise. Is your Iron Man advance teaser the UV-coated style or non-UV? You can tell by the front having a glossy look to it.

The Spider-Man 3 teaser that you mentioned, should be half UV-coat and half matte finish (one side of Spider-Man is glossy, one side has a matte finish for the rain drops). If you paid $73, in my opinion, you paid too much. It is about a $40-$50 poster. But there was an all-black Spider-Man 3 style that was single-sided only that wasn't released to theaters, which style were you referring to?

Yes originals can be expensive but what hurts International customers such as yourself, is the shipping costs, as it is is getting increasingly more expensive to ship overseas, which is why most of my international customers wait until they compile a few posters to save on shipping costs instead of ordering one poster at a time.

Shoot me a private message here or email me directly at treegate@comcast.net and I can see how I can help you out with your original movie poster needs.
