Some are putting the cart before the horse here...

The actors asking for more money isn't why you are paying so much for cable... just like the athletes making more money isn't why you are paying more for ticket prices.

Studios raise the price on ads and networks raise the prices on their channel to providers... and sports teams raise ticket prices because they can and because people will pay it.

THEN... the actors and athletes see all that money coming in and want their share.

It isn't the other way around.

These people aren't getting raises and then your cable bill goes up next year.

Your cable bill is going up next year regardless... so I figure the money might as well go to the people whom I'm paying to watch!

* Speaking of Big Bang Theory, our sister site Deadline reports there has been no “significant progress” in contract renegotiations for stars Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar — and with production on the new season set to start in less than a week, on July 30. (The lead trio reportedly are seeking to up their per-episode payday from north of $300K to possibly a cool million.) Even so, there’s believed to be no immediate concern that delivery of the hour-long Sept. 22 premiere will be delayed.

I think this is all bullshit and just a way to hype up the new season.

It's not bullshit at all. lol This kind of thing always happens, especially with big shows. Plus, how does it hype up the new season? It's not national news or anything, and the show is already the biggest show on TV, there is no need for any hype.

It amazes me how much some TV actors want. More power to them though if they can get it.

The start of production has officially been delayed:

Quote:
“Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on The Big Bang Theory — which was originally scheduled to begin [Wednesday, July 30] — has been postponed,” reads a statement from Warner Bros. TV, which produces TV’s most watched, highest rated comedy.

Production has been pushed back one day for now, with the situation to be reassessed on a day-to-day basis.

Wait. I thought they were already contracted? Didn't they get new contracts last year? Or is this other cast members this time?

CBS just "renewed" the show for 3 more seasons, but that's still a separate thing from the actors individual contracts.

Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) and Mayim Bialik (Amy) got new deals last year, but the original five cast members still don't have a contract for the upcoming seasons.

I wouldn't mind seeing new cast members hired to replace the hold outs.

Just pay them what they want. Don't mess with one of the best sitcoms in history, CBS.

It's not CBS that pays the actors, it's Warner Brothers. CBS just pays a set fee per episode and it's then up to Warner Brothers to decide how much to pay the actors.

I'm really shocked they didn't get this finalized months ago. As the most popular scripted show on TV and a massive hit in syndication the show is making piles of cash, and they're eventually going to give in to the actors demands, especially with the 3 leads negotiating together. It never should have gotten to the point where production was postponed.

My guess is the studio wants to lock them all into a three year contract and that is what's holding up the process. It's easier to find common ground for a single year but with the show already renewed for three years it gives the actors more negotiating powers.
