Wow, I haven't seen dvdfile in over a decade. They never made the transition from covering DVD to Blu-ray and closed up shop after getting bought out.

DVDFile was my first home, posted on there all the time for years around the turn of the millennium. Then everyone left for a different site I used but didn't like as much, then I stopped forum posting for a long time.

One other thing that I caught when watching the UHD, though this isn't a UHD-specific observation: for the first time I really noticed how blatant it is that Brando's reading his lines from cue cards, you can sometimes see his eyes tracking from side to side as he talks, and when he's addressing Baby Kal just before they send him off he's not even looking at the baby

He's Marlon freaking Brando. Even the last son of Krypton (and memorizing lines) is waaaaay beneath him

you gotta get a life...geez

the fact that you go through all these movies looking for problems, whether real, or mostly imaginary is so...

Yeah, they're all in my head. So much so I can make them appear on other people's TVs. Hey, it's a kind of magic.

I really like that goofy stuff. Like in When Harry Met Sally - I love it when Meg Ryan very obviously looks off camera at the director, Rob Reiner because she's a little perplexed by Billy Crystal's "but I would be proud to partake of your pecan pie" bit.

It's all movie history, baby.

I have to say that both Target and Best Buy stock status tracking has now completely utterly jumped the shark. They show no stock within 250 miles when even the very closest locations of all have stock, they show stock when they actually have no stock at all.

Best Buy says that the new DC steels are not in stock or carried in store within 250 miles, yet when I was passing by today I decided to take a peak anyway and they had copies at the very closest location. They also had a some pretty obscure steels marked as not available in any store, etc.

And then for Superman 4k, Target, my local one said they had zero stock and had sold the last copy going by online status and then the next closest store had limited stock (which often means no stock) but then it got changed to one copy in stock (and I ordered it for store pick up last night, then I get a notice today that the store has zero stock and to cancel my order and that is only available for shipping now and not in any stores, my local store and all others within reason all showed no or 'limited' stock online, but then since I also was already driving right by my local store today I stopped in and.... they had it in stock. LOL

Except sometimes it can be really annoying if you drive out to some store farther away for an exclusive and then nothing despite claims or stock. I've also learned to always check local stores first, no matter what it says, once I drove somewhere else since it said local store had none and then on the way back I look in for some other stuff and see they actually had a slew of copies.

Brando's pronunciation of 'Krypton' always tickled me.

Oh and another reason for PC playback.... you can use ultra advanced scaling alogrithms for DVD and blu-rays to 1080P and/or 4k for both luma (more noticeable) and chroma, more advanced than in any external player or TV set.

I actually like his pronunciation better than the real one.

I’m watching this right now in glorious 4K. I’ve seen the movie more times than I care to admit. But I’ve never seen it with such clarity and vibrancy. I understand this isn’t a technical review but I am so pleased with the restoration. Bravo WB!

You ain't seen nothing till you've seen Scott Marlowe even more obviously reading cue cards in Counter Measures (1998). That was painful.

Besides, who has the times to remember lines. He wasn't being paid to memorize lines.

But, but.... that would reduce the total post count, make the threads easier to read, and annoy people less. Scandalous!
Nothing like scrolling past 4-6 ignored posts in a row.

Just watched it yesterday. What a delightful movie, still fun to watch after all these years. I like the transfer quite a bit, mostly due to the wonderfully natural color palette.

What are people using to watch this in SDR? I know a few players are supposed to do a decent conversion job but didn't know they were viable options.

Yeah my Best Buy is sold out and you can't buy it through the website. I went today hoping to use a $10 rewards zone certificate.

Instead, I used it plus a 10% birthday code to preorder Hitman and then I just ordered this on Amazon for $24.99 for Tuesday delivery. Hopefully it has a sleeve.
