Criterion Che (2008)

I heard that Criterion will be releasing Che as an entire film on BD. Is this true?

In Europe, they released two separate BDs.

Which has heck all to do with the US release from Criterion!

Anyway, to actually answer the question - no one knows. Criterion members have discussed Che and pretty much confirmed it is tentatively planned to come out in January or February. When they discuss it, they always just refer to 'Che' - not 'Che part 1' or anything like that. So it would seem it would be sold as one package, possibly with 2 discs - 1 for each part. But it's all speculation, we'll hopefully know soon enough.

Sign me up for a copy.
I'll start saving for it now, and expect it to retail for around $60.

Is it me or has this movie seem to be purposely ignored in the US??
It got no promotion that I saw or heard in the states. The way I came about even knowing about this film was a mention here on blu ray.com. I was shocked to learn that it is a 2008 release and will finally get in 2010! From what I gathered on netflix ( which has been in my que for over 6 months!) it seems to be a two disc set. I would like to hear you guys opinion on the US release of this film?

I have been excited to see this movie since I first read about it. Then it seemed to fall off the map for a bit...I am hoping I can rent it somewhere before I commit to a purchase. If I am remembering correctly I had heard that Blockbuster has exclusive rights to rentals of this film. If that really is the case then I may never even have the opportunity to watch it.

I doubt that I will ever be able to bring myself to drop $50.00 - $60.00 or so on a blind buy...that's just me though. I am sure there will be plenty of others who will take the risk on the purchase. Some will regret making that purchase and I don't want to be that guy.

Considering it's a Criterion release, then that might be a fantastic but expensive set. Anyway I've seen already the movie and it's great. No wonder why Soderbergh is perhaps the best american filmmaker of today (bar the "old masters" like Scorsese or Eastwood).

I can't wait for it to come out on blu-ray (CHE). Hopefully they will include all the interviews they did on Benicio Del Toro and more. I think that the actual US Che movie poster be on the front cover of the blu-ray or perhaps something more appealing that the image they are advertising on this website.

Whoever can sit through the full version of this movie should get the blu ray for free.

are you saying you have an issue with the way Che is portrayed, or are you saying you have an adverse reaction to good acting, cinematography, and movies > 90 minutes long that don't have fancy costumes and CGI special effects?

I'm saying this movie was needlessly and excessively long. From the credits to nearly every scene. The pace of a movie is as important as acting, cinematography, sound and oh yeah, fancy costumes and cgi!

I believe the sticker price is $44.99, but their website has it for $36.99. Neither are too appealing. Amazon is $33.99.

Don't know much about the history, but Benecio del Toro definitely owned the role.
