There is no need to rent it. You could simply pre-order it right away, it is that good!

Netflix, here I come!

If you weren't Stephen Soderbergh and weren't four hours long, I'd have gone to see you in the theater.

I really like Soderbergh's good stuff, but he's left me scratching my head a few times lately.

Blu-ray.com's pages on these releases all list Region B coding. True?

While this does seem like solid releases, I think I'm leaning towards the Japanese box set.

The UK release(s) will be Region-B "locked". So, it is indeed true.

Hello Ulri,

I am unaware of the region status for the upcoming Japanese release (obviously, it will be playable in the US), but I would like to remind you that there is plenty of Spanish dialog in this film which, more than likely, will not be subtitled in English. So, unless you are fluent in Spanish, or Japanese (so you could read the Japanese subs), I would certainly recommend that you avoid it.

Question

pro-bassoonist, are the movies completely pro-Guevara? Or do they also show his 'other' side? I'd be interested if these are not fluff pieces.

You mean the showing him doing personal executions of Cubans? Advocating nuclear holocaust?

Since the filmmaker and star admire him, I'd say no.

Hello,

I saw the film (part 1 & 2) at my theater and thought that it was as unbiased as possible. This is most definitely not a propaganda film (I'd say that The Motorcycle Diaries is far more of a statement film than Che is).

PeterTHX lol yes, amongst many other heinous acts, which we don't need to mention & turn this into some political argument with people who's awareness of him comes from Rage Against The Machine songs/merchandise (brings back countless memories of arguments I had in college). Thank you for the input.

On the other hand, pro-bassoonist, hasn't been wrong yet at suggesting blind-buys for me, but I'll have to rent these first.

This makes me very upset. Is it normal for a Japanese release to not have subtitles in English? That makes no sense to me, English is the number one language in the world. You'd think they would have English subtitles for the fact that so much of these films are in Spanish. This saddens me greatly, I was looking forward to this release so much.

yeah I was wondering the same thing. Won't the Japanese release have English subs?
I really think I'm just going to go ahead and order a region B player this weekend. Its pretty sad when I have to go outside my own country to see the movies I REALLY want to see.
