That was dumb to begin with. Discovery+ was still around, and only certain things were on Max. Either go all in or don't bother.
I didn't like the name "Max" (I'm glad it wasn't another + though) but honestly I don't think it should be called HBO Max either since it doesn't actually have anything to do with HBO. They just based it in that for clout to seem superior and to take advantage of HBO's licenses of movies from other studios before that became more common because it wasn't a WB-specific service. |

I don't know how much he wasted, but he got paid $51.9 million for this fiasco.

But that's because they shut down their actual HBO cable and standalone services. HBO would still be on a WB service because HBO is through WB, but HBO Max is it's own thing separate from HBO. It's only HBO in name.

They carry HBO content because WB owns HBO. It's no different than Disney+ having shows that didn't air on Disney Channel. It's all under the same thing. It has HBO's name but operates separately from HBO, and they're not even involved with production the way shows on HBO are except for maybe the Sex and the City show since that was an HBO show.

I had the ad-supported tier (bottom tier) and it had TNT/TBS Sports and CNN Max, it was almost like a cable package for $7 a month. Then they got rid of live sports and CNN for the ad-supported tier, and its only in the mid/top tier now. |

I do if I spoof my location using my DNS service (Smart DNS Proxy). I only very rarely don’t, such as when I want to use our HBO Max to watch Rick’n Morty
![]() The sports package over here is actually completely different and a separate add-on, regardless of subscription tier. |
