I recall seeing brief artifacts when I went to this at the IMAX. I don't have this 4K disc yet, just thought I'd mention it.

Yeah this is way more noticeable then artifacts. It is literally a darker line running horizontally through the screen/picture.

Thank you again.
You can also see it when the two kids are trying to get on one of the lifeboats after the submarine hit.

Watched my 4K Dunkirk tonight and had no real issues with audio or video. Looked and sounded great. I have the Sony x800 player and a beefy atmos capable sound system. I had checked the 4K disc prior to viewing and did not see any markings or scratches even though, when I first opened the case, the 4K disc was stacked on top of the Blu-ray extras disc on the right side. After watching the film, I put the 4K disc back on the left side of the case, alone, and stacked the two Blu-rays on the right side.

The film is technically a marvel but the jury is still out on how many repeat viewings this film will hold for me. I have now seen it twice; once in the theater and once at home. That may be it for me; time will tell.

I just watched Dunkirk in 4k for the first time tonight. Holy cow that was phenomenal. What an intense movie; I'm completely floored.

I have a simple 300w soundbar hooked into the TV and the sound went out for a few seconds about ten times during the course of the movie due to what I assume was not enough power to the speakers. Because the same thing was happening when I turned it off and just used the TV speakers. The loudness from the UHD BD seemed to overwhelm my simple setup. It happened during all the bombing sequences.

Yep, if you don't have a beefy surround system this will rip your speakers a new one.

I watched my copy last night (Sony UBP-X800) with no problems. The PQ was stunning (the sound was low due to a sick/sleeping spouse), and the movie was an impressive technical achievement. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, ducking my head with the on-screen action, but ultimately felt it lacked an emotional component. If you chop off the "bookends" of Saving Private Ryan, that's still the pinnacle of WWII films for me. But I'll definitely watch it again.

I noticed the same thing on The Dark Knight as well, I think or it's just my TV? Between The Joker and Two Face at the hospital. Look at the pillow, it's not always there, and now above the middle of the screen.

That's a 35mm scene, right? So it's not just IMAX-related.

Yes, 35mm. But I just ninja-edited my post. That I was in doubt, that it could be my TV or a reflection on the TV screen it self? If you or someone could check this scene too?

I was on the edge of my seat because of the terror of the situations, but because of the narrative structure, it was more like watching (and hoping) people survive, rather than connecting with anyone with whom I could invest emotionally. Everyone just seemed like stock characters. I liked it enough to watch it again, albeit with different (lower) expectations.

Watching the bonus disc now and I must admit: beautifully shot, great photography, amazing production...just not something I'd look forward to watch more than once. Perhaps that there is no actual plot or an in depth insight in the characters' backgrounds and inner personalities made movie emotionally lukewarm and 'boring'.
I still would recommend everyone to watch this gem once, then sell it on Ebay

This is a movie I will revisit at least once a year. Hopefully studios get behind more war films.

In comparison to comedy and action fodder we haven't.

So nearly every weekend we should have a new war movie coming out, according to some. That's intense.

In my case, I would need more layers to a movie to watch it more than once. The movie is stunning, don't get me wrong, but just like some feel that 120fps doesn't work in a movie format, I feel that the lack of characters development and plot is also a detriment to keep me engaged

Honestly, it took me about an hour of reading reviews and recaps to even follow what was going on in the film.
