Or, another way of looking at it is that for the 72 episodes, they are getting $1 million per episode for 70 of them, and then doing the other two for free.
How humanitarian of them.

Wow, I was not expecting them to get that high. The girls must be jealous as hell then since they are only getting $100,000 for the final season. They are at 60k right now and are going up like 10k per season or something. So for this upcoming year I believe they are at 70k now. LOL

Yeah, that's messed up. Honestly, I think the show could do without Helberg and Nayyar. I always thought they were just fill in characters that weren't really all that necessary. Galecki, Parsons and Cuoco are the ones that steal the show, so I can see why giving them the raise was necessary. Now, if they gave Rauch and Bialik huge raises, I would've hung myself because honestly, I don't really care for their characters very much.

That seems a tad excessive.

Dude, Helberg & Nayyar are both hilarious, not to mention the chemistry all 5 main stars have is great, getting rid of them would be the downfall of the show. And Amy & Bernadette are both great additions.

I wonder if the $70 million figure is for their upfront salary, or if that is what they are estimated to make in total with both their salary and the the residual back door action profits.

If he had his way, they'd cut the cast down the just the "main 3," sererly cut their salaries down to like 50k a year (unless he determines that is too much money for them to make), eliminate most of the writing staff, and have one straight-out-of-film-school graduate as the sole writer for the show (someone desperate enough for a job to work for super cheap), tear down the actual sets and auction off the pieces, replacing them with crappy half-assed "home made" cardboard box versions, and expect the show to maintain it's fanbase, ratings, and earnings from advertising and so forth. And all of the money that they saved and made in that auction would go to charity.

[Show spoiler]Not that I'm against charitable causes... just that this wouldn't be realistic at all.

I am astonished to see how many on this thread considers that these actors DESERVE this money or worst make an apology of greediness.
It is past the point of indecence for these actors to keep asking more.
Personally it puts me off to watch any future seasons, even if i like the show.

And I'm astonished at the folks who can't seem to grasp the basic idea of what's going on.

The studio is getting that money already. It's there in the studio's account, and more of it is rolling in. People want to buy advertising during the show, syndication rights to the show, and merchandise, so the revenue continues. Since they're already getting the money, it makes perfect sense for those who make the show successful to want a larger cut of it.

Would you rather have the studio execs keep all of it for themselves? The money is coming in regardless, so someone is going to pocket it.

lol at the people who do not believe they deserve their raises. It's called capitalism. If they were not worth this type of money, then they would not have received it. If this show is making a ton of money, which it is, then the people who are central to the show's revenue should be entitled to a sizable amount of that revenue. Does everyone, who believe that the actors should not receive this raise, think that the corporation should keep receiving hundreds of millions of dollars while not having to pay their actors an adequate sum.

Honestly, if you don't think they should be receiving this type of money, stop watching the show. Everyone who watches the show is contributing to their "greed." I think it's jealousy on the parts of those who believe that this should not occur.

Exactly!

Do I think these actors "need" that amount of money ? No, of course not. Were they already making well more than enough to live on? Yes, they were. Nobody is denying any of these things.

But they are a huge, essential, important part of this thing that is just raking in the cash well above and beyond what is was in it's early seasons. If there is this extremely huge wad of BBT-generated cash to go around, why shouldn't the actors get a decent cut of it? Who should it go to instead? Bare in mind that "charity" isn't a valid response, since that isn't where it would end up going... it would either sit in WB's bank account, get split up between WB executives, or something to that general effect. They aren't taking money from needy crippled children or anything like that.

Without the actors, there is no show. I certainly don't think the show could survive without Leonard, Sheldon, and Penny. Lose those three characters, and they may as well just cancel the show. And while not quite as important as the main 3, the other Raj and Howard are also rather important to the show.

The work that they are doing is making WB, the executives, and so forth rich... VERY rich. Why shouldn't they get a cut?

If you (in reference to those arguing against the raises) were an arguably major, huge, important, indispensable part of some kind of business venture that is generating tons and tons and TONS of money, and year after year brings in more money than the year beforehand, and if everyone else at the "top" of this thing that you work with is therefore getting more and more money every year when those increased earnings come in.... wouldn't you want your fair cut of that, regardless of how much you are already making?

If you want, donate the extra cash to charity. That's fine... it's yours to do with what you want. But don't act like it's something that one shouldn't be entitled to just because of how much money they already earn.

Look, I do think there are REALLY obnoxiously greedy people out there... I'm talking about the type who don't just simply sell a good product or service and make good money off of it.... I'm talking about those who use underhanded tactics to get ahead (sometimes illegal, sometimes legal). A company that is already doing really, really well, but then lays off employees, putting them in dire straights, to outsource as a means by which to make even more money? Yeah, I'm not thrilled about it.

A company that ridiculously cuts corners on it's products to save money, and perhaps even shifts their product into a form that is less consumer-friendly, but they know that people will buy anyway because they need it (or something akin to that)? Yeah, I have a problem with that.

When people who already have tons and tons and TONS of money (often times well beyond what the cast of this show will be making now with their new deals) do things to stomp on others just to make even more money? Yeah, I have a problem with that.

But this is a TV show. One that has gained ratings and earned more money year after year. And it grew exponentially after being sold into syndication. With all of the reruns on TBS and other stations, it drew in more people who now watch the new episodes, too. And as a result, it gained more money. Not by screwing over tons of people or through underhanded tactics... but on their merits of it's own content and the popularity that it has drawn. Since this money is already being sucked into the vortex that is WB/The Big Bang Theory, the cast should get their cut. What they do with it is up to them. If some of you feel that more of that money should go to charity and other needy causes, then write to the cast members and suggest that to them.

Now excuse me while I prepare for the upcoming new season by watching the Blu-Ray sets of the previous seasons that I happily and willfully bought with my own hard earned money.

Most of the posts in this thread revolve around show drama/issues over the actual content of the episodes, it's hilarious.

If I felt it would make a difference, I would. But one person (i.e. me) boycotting the show ain't gonna make any difference in the ratings.

So, in other words, you still like the show and are entertained by it, and will continue to watch it despite doing so going against your apparent principles and morals (based on your comments in this thread).

While you not watching it won't make a difference in terms of effecting the ratings, if you were as dedicated to these values that you've been going on about, you would still stop watching the show out of sheer principle.

Yes, I'd still watch it. Why would I give up watching something I like if it's not going to make a difference? It's a waste.
