It sucks Altered Innocence is no longer a thing, since they were the only boutique I know of that mostly release a lot of LGBTQ+ films. Anus Films (a play on Janus) really was kind of like the Criterion/Janus for more mature stuff like Equation to an Unknown and The Fred Halsted Collection / LA Plays Itself. I know the market must be small compared to the non-LGBTQ+ stuff like Synapse and stuff, but still, its important that stuff gets preserved and restored and released. Vinegar Syndrome still has Showgirls, but it wasn't part of Altered Innocence.

That said, if anyone has any of the Altered Innocence films on my wishlist, preferably the slipcover versions, let me know. I don't know where to get them anymore since it seems they're still trying to find a retailer to sell off the remaining ones, and are unavailable for the foreseeable future.

Just because they left OCN doesn't mean they stopped existing. They joined MVD and will continue releasing films through them.

Altered Innocence Joins MVD for Distribution in North America

MVD Entertainment Group and Altered Innocence are thrilled to announce a new home video distribution partnership for North America, starting with the May 7th release of She is Conann, Bertrand Mandico’s sci-fi / fantasy adventure, along with the June 25th release of Ozon’s Transgressive Triple: Sitcom, Criminal Lovers, and Water Drops on Burning Rocks, which will bring three of François Ozon’s early features to Blu-ray for the first time in North America.

I still need to pick up the rest of these Indicator couldn't get. I haven't yet because I hoped someone else would do most of them, they're too pricey usually and a good number have crappy encodes or various issues such as audio or old masters mixed in. The real question is will Kino pick these up or will they go fully into OOP land...

While Film Movement says 40% off, it is actually 60% off. They haven’t been this cheap in years; I believe the last time was May 2020. If you want something, I would jump on it now.

You're right. I imagine that's a screw-up on their end.

It’s a bit of a shame that they seem to be out of stock on a number of things. The Great Silence blu-ray completely disappeared from the site, as did the Sarno blus. Are they OOP or just out of stock?

They're an OCN Partner label now, and The Great Silence older stock is now being sold through Vinegar Syndrome. I do have a feeling a re-release will come through OCN too, possibly with a new slip, etc.. Not sure about the Sarno films though.

Cheapest I've seen those Hamaguchi titles... even with shipping. Grabbed them while they're still 60%.

Interesting that they signed on with OCN while more and more seem to be jumping ship. I’m not one to care about slipcovers, so I’m happy with the 10% extra off (OCN seems to top out at 50%) and free shipping.

Held off buying Samurai Wolf 1 & 2. From the review here, it sounds like the gamma may be better on the Eureka/Masters of Cinema set. Couldn't find any direct comparisons but would love to know if that's actually the case.

Several Blu-ray labels have recently signed on with Vinegar Syndrome.

The ones jumping ship are mostly doing so to expand their business with even more premium/limited edition Blu-ray releases.

... wasn't really impressed with the supposed 50% sale prices on Vinegar Syndrome.
... seemed more like 10-15% off their regular prices, nothing blowing wind up my skirt ...

Prices are still cheaper than you'll get them most times at most places. You'll hardly get them cheaper than that. Now July might be a little more fruitful for you if there's anything for you cheap enough that you're looking for. If they do the same thing as they did last year.

Default Australian Boutique B1G1F (JB Hi-Fi)

Not seen anything about JB Hi-Fi's 2 for 1 sale, which ends May 29th (Australian time).

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/bogof-blu-ray-4k

They have fixed their international shipping, so while a lot of releases may not be available to ship, it is now much easier to find that out. You just enter an international address and 'fetch' the shipping charges. You can even do this on guest checkout.

I've made 3 orders.

Order #1 - $65AUD + $17AUD shipping = $82AUD

Order #2 - $100AUD + $24AUD shipping = $124AUD

Order #3 - $72AUD + $12AUD shipping = $84AUD

Is that the time where they would do like daily deals and some of them were like $10 blus? The months/years blend together and I'm trying to remember if that happened outside of like black friday

Don't forget, if you're outside of Australia, you can request the GST (sales tax) portion of your payment back once your complete order has shipped.
