Is anyone else getting this message when they try to play? i can't get into the beta for the life of me. This is really pissin me off . BTW i downloaded the beta from the U.K. and registered my konami ID in the U.S. and yes im using my game id and not my konami ID to log in. any help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you in advance.

peer 2 peer has worked for me everytime. Downloading from the actual server never worked for me tho

Pros:

Great maps and i like the whole feel to it.
Weapons seem pretty plentiful.
Good graphics.

Cons:

Runs like a turd, constant slowdown anytime theres anything going on. They really need to work on this.
Changing weapons is insanely difficult, way more complicated then it should be, same for when you are hiding in a box.
Shooting is obviously flawed, they need to fix the autoaim from making you do 180s out of nowhere.

Very good base to work with, they just need to iron it all out. The controls are way too complicated tho.

Only had one standout problem so far where you die instantly after respawning but it doesn't count as a death or take away from your teams tickets so it's just a bit of a nuisance waiting to respawn again. Little bit of lag in a couple of games, nothing out of the ordinary.

Very positive experience once I got the hang of the controls. Bit weird to begin with aiming the way the camera's pointing (you can change that but it's actually best that way) and making sure to stop running before hitting X to crouch. Otherwise you roll of course.

SOCOM's got some serious competition!

edit: Oh yeah, not many linking up SOP at the moment but as you link to one person, if they're linked to others you link with those others too so you don't have to link up as much as you may think.

Did I read this right, Socom's got some serious competition. You almost made me choke on my coffee, as it went down the wrong tube from reading that. First off, I played the beta today, this game can't even touch COD4 online, Vegas 2 online, or the Club online, and you want to compare it with Socom. Rave about the game if you want, thats fine, but rave about the story mode when it comes out, because this game online can't touch half the online games I've played out their. Socom 2 buried this game online, but you talk Socom Confrontation has competition. I'm not one to jump on the hype and have to like a game, you have to prove it to me, and this didn't prove it, reminds me of overhyped halo 2, 3 online garbage. I know the game will be good, but online beta will have me stop playing easy come monday night when Gta4 hits. Back to playing COD4 and VEGAS 2 which trash MGS 4 online.

I'm not even interested in playing CoD4 and R6V2 so obviously we have very different expectations and tastes for shooters.

I'm just mind blowned here, tell me what it is you don't like about cod4 and vegas 2 compared to Mgs4 online? I have no doubt the game mode will finish in my top ten games of all time though as far as story mode goes.

Graphically the game is OK. Not stunning, not horrible, but a bit too heavy on earth tones for my taste (all your accessories and clothing are limited to earth tones too).

Gameplay is OK too. Aiming needs a little work (especially the laughable auto-aim), and controls aren't as fluid as one might hope for, but it's serviceable. I'm not fond of the cover system, as you can't actually shoot effectively while taking cover as far as I could tell in about an hour of team deathmatch.

Ah ok, I thought that MGSO was the online multiplayer portion of MGS4. If I understand well, it will be two games sold separately ? ..mmh. Weird.

ok thanks for reply, but the game online kinda makes it look like it was shrunk down, characters are alot smaller then what the game mode is like. Also you don't find it irritating how slow the guy moves, the lock up on the wall is terrible, and the shooting system needs some serious help. Well glad some people here like it, I already have friends that started playing it and jumped back on Cod4 and Vegas2, as well as me hoping back on Gran Turismo 5. I'm going to keep trying, but it's hard to go from a game with a good system that moves fast, then to go to a bad shooting system and move slow. Hey is their a run button on here, tried everything, can't find one, thanks Shin.

The movement speed doesn't bother me but the way you can't shoot when you're too close facing a wall is irritating sometimes. Stops you from camping some of the high walkways from any spot I guess.

COD4 online is insanely superior in every form. It is what all other online shooters should strive to be like. It is polished, buffed, and polished some more. Controls are absolute perfection as well. MGSO is a good start, but it doesnt hold a candle gameplay wise to COD4, not to mention the graphics in which COD4 just thrashes MGSO in every way possible.

Seriously, its a joke to compare COD4 to MGSO, MGSO is the joke.

Hmmmm the beta was not worth the struggle I went through to actually get to play it, theres so many bugs in it that its just barely playable.

I mean is there anyone here not annoyed by the constant screaming in this game? and the slow pace of the game gets old quick if your a COD4 junkie.
Still buying MGS4 but will think twice before I buy the full fledged MGO single release.
