They're playing with us. These aren't "delayed". This was certainly planned to coincide with Toho being at Comic Con. They even just now posted on facebook about how they were "checking out" the Toho booth. The announcement will first be made there and then the monthly announcements will post shortly thereafter. Let Criterion play their little game. We'll still get to buy some great movies from them in October (or better yet, during the inevitable November 1/2 price sale) even if we don't officially know which ones for another day or two.

This is certainly an experience here in Australia, going to bed at around midday US EST and waking up at 9-10PM US EST to 15 pages of absolutely nothing.

It is indeed odd that they've announced nothing, rather than announcing what they can and following that with the Godzilla set once that gets sorted out. Are we going to get any other announcements this month at all?

If they're playing with us and that's a game, it's an unnecessary one. It's been a longstanding tradition to have announcements on the 15th, sometimes on the 16th. If they had planned to wait for the SDDC from the start, they could've tweeted about it. Wouldn't have hurt them one bit.

The titles wouldn't be coming out until October no matter what. What's the difference between Monday and Thursday? They aren't going to show their hand beforehand on something this big.

If it's the Godzilla boxset and especially if it has War of the Gagantuas in it, then all is forgiven

This does suck but a confirmation on waiting for Comicon would wipe out quite a bit of suspense as to why they are waiting. As of now, there is still a bit of wonder because there hasn't been any confirmation either way.

Would love to see that as well. Overdue for a 4k release either way.

The rumors seem plausible. Of course I still hold out hope for spine 1000 being the still unreleased in the US 4K master of The Third Man...and Criterion's first 4K UHD title....even slimmer hope that the audio track will be better than the UK disc I imported...

But would they really give The Third Man another spine number?

I see one of two things happening.

1. Criterion announces the October releases tomorrow sans a Godzilla box set, which is teased to be announced at Comic Con on Friday.

2. The possibility of announcements is hyped up tomorrow but ultimately postponed again. Once Friday rolls around, a Godzilla box set is announced (in its own special post) and, hours later, the rest of the batch is announced.

First world problems: people going monkey shit because they’ve had to wait 48 hours more for movie announcement.

No kidding, and they've announced titles like clockwork every month for years now. For something "special" like this I think we can cut them some slack.

Every problem on this entire site is a first world problem.

It's a site devoted to shiny discs that store high definition video and audio.
