I hope they avoid the sitcom trope of replacing a missing cast member with someone with doesn't at all resemble the original.

I think this could be good for the growth of Howard's character though. Walowitz mother dies, Stewart delivers the news to Walowitz, and they bury the hatchet because Stewart made her happy in the last year (or so) of her life.

I really don't think replacing a voice is quite the same as recasting someone you actually see onscreen. I am pretty sure they already cast a different actress in the part for this current season. I thought the mother sounded different from previous seasons.

I am sorry, my mistake. I read that she was absent this season because she was receiving treatment.

Until Howard realizes his mom gave Stuart the house and 60% of the heritage comedy gold

Dunno if it's just me, but I've found the last couple of episodes to be quite bland. A couple of laughs but nothing special.

It kind of feels like they're going through the motions a bit at the moment.

I agree 100%. The show just isn't that funny anymore.

Yeah it hasn't been funny for quite some time. I'll say it was last season when the quality started to decrease.

I'm hoping they move some of the characters around and that'll refresh the series. I think Sheldon and Amy living together would be hilarious.

'Big Bang' will say farewell to Mrs. Wolowitz

Quote:
BURBANK, Calif.--Carol Ann Susi's death last November left a hole in The Big Bang Theory, even though viewers had never seen her.

The actress, 62, provided the raspy voice of Howard Wolowitz's nagging mother, and her absence will be addressed in an episode airing Jan. 29.

"We shot an episode last week that deals with the loss of Carol Ann," executive producer Chuck Lorre said in an interview, declining to specify exactly how. "It took us a couple of months to deal with that; we didn't know how to at first," he says. But executive producer Steven Molaro is "in charge of a beautiful script that takes account of the loss of Carol. We thought we handled it in a delicate and respectful way. We lost somebody in our family; it's not something you anticipate happening."

Wow, I'm surprised they are doing that...and so soon. There hasn't really been any discussion of Stuart or Howard's mom... but I guess that makes sense. Will be interesting to see what they do and how this changes the Howard character.

They say her absence will be addressed in an episode airing Jan. 29, but I don't think it's going to be about Mrs. Wolowitz passing away. I could be wrong, but I think "The Comic Book Store Regeneration" is the episode they're talking about where they say goodbye, the first thing it says in the description is "Howard gets some sad news".

So her and Stewart go off to live together? Seems like the logical thing.
