I liked 6 better than 5, mainly because the action scenes were even more ridiculously entertaining and I don't particularly care for the heist movie genre.

Watching the extras on the last few BDs is a lot of fun. So much practical! Can't wait til tomorrow am. I'll bring a pocket-pack of kleenex.

I like Five the best because it just has the best of everything compared to Six. Better location and cinematography. Rio is beautifully shot and adds so much flavor to the film. The first time we get to see the full team together with people from all different Fast films. The Rock vs Vin Diesel works so much better compared to them being on a team together in Six. I liked it much better when they were working against each other. It was really cool how they made them wanted fugitives in Five, really felt like they were in danger from all different sides. That Rock vs Vin Diesel fight was so well done. That bank vault chase was to die for and easily the best action sequence in the entire franchise.

The ending was also very good and could have been a final ending to the franchise. Six just feels like a carbon copy of Five but with all the good stuff taken out. The plane sequence is not nearly as thrilling as the bank vault scene. Gina Carano is a horrendous actress and really hurts the film with her dull performance. Letty has no memory and isn't part of the team until the end so even though she is back, she really doesn't add much to the film because she is not herself. London is so dim and dark it really doesn't hold a candle to the beautiful locations in Brazil. Roman is really annoying in Six and tried way too hard to be funny. Too much CGI and less practical stunts as well. Also Jordana Brewster is barely in the film, same goes for Elsa Pataky.
Paul Walker is underused in this one compared to Five.

This is why I think Five is the best compared to Six. I liked Furious 7 better than Six but nothing beats Five so far.

It did have a really nice ending for Paul Walker though and I really appreciated it. However I think Five is the best one in the series and this one was a little bit better than Six but not much. 3/5 stars.

edit. Kurt Russell was easily the best part of this movie. I am so glad he had a lot more screen time compared to The Rock.
Well, as you may or may not know, Vin sort of let it slip this week (on Jimmy Kimmel) that Kurt will be the Main dude in FF8 & 9 (if they continue on with that many), & Kurt addressed it himself on Kimmel a night or so ago.

It's why you go during the afternoon. All those goobers you mentioned usually show up during the nightly shows. If I wanna see a movie. I can't wait I have to see it opening weekend.

A girl literally filmed the first ten minutes of the movie on her phone in front of me. I could see the movie being filmed on her I-Phone. I don't know if she continued to film the movie and moved her phone out of site but it was infuriating. I saw it in a real IMAX theater which is so loud it drowns out most of other people making noise.

They had a car show and a street race going on with blocked off roads so that was pretty cool. I saw Fast Five in IMAX as well and they had the brand new 2011 Chargers out on display before they were released to the public which was awesome as well.

My thoughts:

Let's get this out of the way - the death of Paul Walker weighs heavily over this film. You can tell where storylines were changed, scenes altered and, consciously or not, you find yourself playing "spot the double/CG replacement". Many are complaining about it being badly done, but honestly if you're looking for it, yes you'll see it, but if you didn't know, and weren't looking for it, for the most part you wouldn't even notice.

That being said, Furious 7 is a fun flick, but doesn't quite live up to the last couple installments. It tries to amp everything up, but increasing the quantity and insanity of the action does not necessary mean an increase in quality. After a slow start, the movie starts rolling out the action scenes, which are all entertaining, if more than a bit ridiculous. The movie definitely has more than its share of eye-rolling moments that strain believability - far moreso than previous films. But if you can overlook the ridiculousness and just go with it, you'll enjoy the ride.
The last 30-45 minutes is one gigantic action sequence that goes on and on, to the point of action fatigue. The audience is eventually just numb to the action as it drags on.

The main cast does their thing once again, with the weak link being Tyrese Gibson's character whose constant comic relief tries too hard and just gets a bit annoying. Dwayne Johnson once again owns every moment he is on screen, but unfortunately his screentime is limited as he is sidelined for most of the film. In an effort to fast-track part 7 and try to get it out only a year after F&F 6 (which didn't happen anyway after filming was interrupted), they had limited availability for Johnson as he was preparing to do Hercules. Ronda Rousey's role is thankfully limited to a single scene, with her dialogue limited to about 4 horribly delivered lines. The standout newcomer here is Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey. She is a great addition that I hope we see more of in the future.

4/5

And since everyone asks about rankings, I would probably rank it about halfway down the list of the series. But that is not a bad thing - I like all of the films. I just enjoy some more than others. I would probably say 5, 6, 1, 7, 4, 2, 3.

There was not. A tribute of sorts to Walker, followed by the credits.

No. The movie ends with a Walker montage/tribute, so I kinda figured they would let it end that way and not put a teaser scene or anything more after that. Stayed anyway to be sure, and I was right, they didn't.

edit: oops. replied before reading subsequent posts - just saw dan already answered that.

Unhappy

I hate to say this as a fan of the series, but Furious 7 was just bad. It got off to a good start, with a badass entrance for Jason Statham and highlighted by the most creatively filmed fight scene of the whole movie, between
[Show spoiler]Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
But after around the 20-25 minute mark, it started to go off the rails and it just became a frantic ADHD-paced slog. James Wan, I respect what you did with Insidious and The Conjuring, but what happened? I got the sense he didn't know how to shoot action scenes, there was truly awful shaky cam for most of them. There were some shots here and there that were far away and allowed you to see what was going on, and a few brief moments where the scenes breathe, but otherwise they're a confusing mess of bad editing and cinematography. I know these movies are supposed to be brainless fun, but it was just dumb at times and I couldn't tell what was going on nor did I really care. A movie should have some semblance of a plot, which the previous six did, this one didn't have anything to engage me. I'll get chided for suggesting plot matters in a Fast and Furious movie, but whatever, I'm not saying it's what I go to these movies for anyway. I do like these movies for the characters besides the action, and even they aren't given much love and attention this time out, as they were in the others. The only things this installment carries over successfully like clockwork is the cool cars, beautiful women, and the same type of music that I wouldn't ordinarily listen to but works great for these movies. Furious 7 is exhausting, tedious, and IMO didn't feel like a true F&F movie, not like the others. I'm shocked to be saying this, but I'd place it at the very bottom, yep, the worst in the series.

2/5

New ranking:
[Show spoiler]1 - 4/5
5 - 4/5
6 - 3.75/5
2 - 3.5/5
4 - 3/5
3 - 2.5/5
7 - 2/5

I only disliked the action finale where it went full blown man of steel level destruction.
