Thumbs down Star Wars Movie Discussion

1.) We as the viewer are in the dark about events between the previous film and this one. (Please dont talk about Shadow of the Empire since it didnt exist in 1983.

2) Stormtroopers are suddenly REALLY bad shots.

3.) Apparently, Imperial officers open secured doors for anybody.

4.) The Empire doest have alot of TIE fighters.

5.) Star Destroyers look cool, but just sit there and watch the fleet be destroyed

6.) Ewoks are worse then Jar Jar.

7.) Boba Fett gets eaten by the Sarlacc??

8.)Why does Luke always wear black if hes a Jedi?

9.) If Han and his team know enough to wear camo on Endor, why dont the biker scouts??

Some good points, still love Jedi as much as all the other movies (including prequels everyone here know where I stand on that )

But expect some flak coming your way, some on this forum hold the original movies to the level of sainthood

I agree. I don't like any of the prequels more than the original trilogy.

not every minute detail needs to be explained...this was before the age of prequels and reboots and tie-ins....not fair.

2) Stormtroopers are suddenly REALLY bad shots.
they were always really bad shots. Stormtroopers are supposed to be clumsy Nazi's in George's world anyways.

Quote:
3.) Apparently, Imperial officers open secured doors for anybody.
they thought the battle was won. Overconfidence was their weakness. Luke addressed this with the Emperor as well.

Quote:
4.) The Empire doest have alot of TIE fighters.
um....yeah, they did. They just didnt feel the need to waste ships since the Death Star was operational and Palpatine wanted to show off its firepower. He stated this himself.

see answer #4 ("Hold here. We're not going to attack. I have my orders from the Emperor himself. He has something special planned.")

6.) Ewoks are worse then Jar Jar.
Ewoks are annoying, but f**k no they arent worse than Jar Jar. They even speak Tagalog!

Quote:
7.) Boba Fett gets eaten by the Sarlacc??
yeah, pretty dumb, but Boba was such a NOTHING character anyways. He only became cool after some rabid fans started a circle-jerk over him. He didnt do anything special in these movies, besides track Han down and hand him over to Vader. He just looked awesome. That was it.

8.)Why does Luke always wear black if hes a Jedi?
I think it was explained by Lucas that he wore black because it was foreshadowing that he would be tempted by the dark side after he had Vader on the ropes.

9.) If Han and his team know enough to wear camo on Endor, why dont the biker scouts??
I guess because they were stationed all over Endor and had no reason to hide from a small band of rebels? My only guess.

I have a different view of the Starwars films...

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Return of the Jedi
3. A New Hope
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. The Phantom Menace
6. Attack of the Clones

Attack of the clones to me was the worst as it just felt off. Hayden was worse than Jar Jar... but I think TPM could have been much better without JAR JAR...

Empire is clearly the best as the characters developed, the dark side really was introduced and it had great pacing.

The original 3 movies are awesome and the prequels all sucked, they all lacked the story and just became special effects, plus the acting was horrible.

+1

when I watch it now, it feels like I'm watching someone play a PS2 game. It has aged terribly.

Return is very weak because of this, an entire legion of the best stormtroopers defeated by a douzen rebels and a tribe of teddy bear. But everyone bash the prequels for being lousy.

Seriously how can you take a movie so seriously when a bunch of 3 foot tall teddy bears using rocks can go head to head with stormtroopers?

Oh! I know how! The teddy bears are so low of the ground stormtroopers are shooting above them right?

If for nothing else but nostalgia, I love ROTJ. I think I even put it above ROTS.

I wouldn't mind the care bears taking out the storm troopers if, the empror didn't say "An entire legion of my best troops'...I mean wtf...in the prequels stormtroopers wipe out the entire jedi order, and then get taken out by a bunch of teddy bears...you can't really watch it now without fast forwarding those scenes

Not only Lucas, but an assistant to Kirshner as well, which this was confirmed by Kirsh. I don't remember what the magazine was called, but there was an interview with Kirsh a few years back, talking about his work, TESB and why he didn't return for Jedi. I don't remember the exact reason why, but I think it was because Marquand was alittle overwhelmed on Jedi and Lucas had to step in and help out. The rumors I've read awhile back was that Lucas had at least directed the Death Star and Dagoobah scenes.

I'll try to think up that mag. It's a film magazine, about writing/screenwriting I think, but am not sure.
