Default Ordered a PS3 yesterday, help me pick 3 games!

Well, I couldn't pass up the Drake's PS3 bundle from Dell over the weekend, so I'm now at the point where I need to pick a couple games to start my collection.

I'm a FPS fan, but also love general action (Tomb Raider, etc.)... Help me pick which three games to get from the list above....

Right now, I'd get Little Big Planet, Killzone 2 and InFamous.

That'll keep you busy for awhile

try some PS3 exclusives ...

- Infamous
- Little Big Planet
- Resistance 2
- Killzone 2

just some essentials while supporting the PSN.

Metal Gear is a must. every ps3 owner should have that. killzone 2 is simply amazing with an awesome online mode that'll keep you coming back. and Infamous (judging by the demo) is just plain sweet. and reviews dont lie! if you would rather an FPS i would say COD4/W@W instead of Resistance 2. i believe you would have a better time with one of those.

edit: Oh. stay away from haze

I really shouldn't have put inFamous on the list since I will be getting it no matter what...

I can honestly say it feels kinda weird going to the PS3... Always swore that my 360 would be enough, but with the forthcoming exclusives (GOW3 for one), guess it's time to "step up."

Let me ask you guys this, how is the PSN for gaming? How would you rate the quality of the people? I'll still be playing on my 360, but I'd love to get away from the childish BS (cursing, racist crap, etc.) that is overrunning Live...

Plus, for $399, it seemed more than worth it... I will now have a BD2.0 player (the PS3 is 2.0, correct?), and my mother can have my current player (BDP-1400)...

All I can say is that every day I play 32-player matches on WarHawk and it's COMPLETELY lag free.

the PSN i would rate slightly higher than Live (i own a 360 as well so i can talk from experience) but know this, where there is internet gaming with a headset, there are ignorant people. just know that the service is just as reliable as Live and its free. and yes it is 2.0.

it will play DTS-HDMA and Dolby TrueHD as PCM to your receiver though if you have the right receiver that is. enjoy your new playstation when it arrives!

Hey Shin,

Is GOW3 still on track for the holiday season or has it been pushed back?

Also, I have a PSP.... Does the PS3 and PSP have any interaction or are they totally independent of each other?

Since this will be my new BD player, is the remote an absolute necessity or can the movies be handled via the controllers?

Sorry for all the questions... I haven't had a PS since PS One, and have been "Xbox-ified." At least I had the Xbox before the 360, so I knew how most of the stuff already functioned, but this is a whole new beast...

i'm not shin but GOW3 doesnt have a solid release date yet, PSP connects to the ps3 via Remote Play (look for it on your XMB) you dont need the BD controller to play your movies, you can control it with your standard Sixaxis.

God Of War III's release date will be announced at E3, probably at Sony's press conference on June 2nd. It's roughly due in the current financial year, by March 31st 2010.

With PSP you can check out Remote Play which lets you interact with many of the PS3's functions through the PSP's screen and controls.
adhoc Party is in Japanese beta but you can create a Japanese PSN account to download it. It allows you to play offline ad-hoc multiplayer PSP games online with voice chat using the PS3/PSN as a tunneling service.

The BD Remote isn't needed at all.

The original Xbox took over as my primary interest last generation so I know what it's like not to be fully clued up on PlayStation 2 but PS3 does so much more. If you want a thorough understanding of the PS3 XMB's capabilities, the user's guide is a great place to start.

RE: Blu-ray remote

~uses 2AA batteries, whereas the regular controller is rechargable. I guess it's a personal preference of getting up to charge a controller vs. paying for a couple extra batteries once in a great while

~regular controller makes an annoying menu pop-up on screen. Blu-ray remote doesn't, but it's not backlit, so it can be equally distracting if you watch movies in the dark

LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid 4
InFamous

Those are the top three exclusives aside from Uncharted (which you already own due to the bundle) that I would recommend at this juncter.

I voted:

Infamous
Killzone 2
Resitance 2

Although I think you should play Resistance 1 first before playing 2, so you get the whole story. 1 is pretty great in it's own right.

And a word on Haze: I was one of it's supporters from the very beginning. I said how it coudlnt be 'that bad' through the delay, the bad reviews, the price drops. I finally played 13 bucks for it used one day, and I have to admit: Not worth it. It had some interesting ideas and mechanics, but the excecution failed miserably, unfortunately.
