Default Dali Setup

Yo peeps,

Here is my setup

TV: 50" Panasonic TH50PZ850A (Australian model)
AMPLIFIER: VSXLX60 pioneer AMP
CENTRE: Dali Concept Centre
FRONTS: Dali Concept 8's
REARS: Dali Concept 6's
SURROUND REARS: Dali Concept 1's
SUB: Canton Karat AS 725
BLU-RAY PLAYER: PlayStation 3

Probably would've rather gone an Onkyo Amplifier but I was offered the Pioneer amp at a price I couldn't refuse.

Also Would rather a Pioneer TV, but the price difference wasn't worth it so much as a similar offer was presented on the Panasonic.

Only Down side: Electricity use = LOADS.

But - I'm fully happy with it. Great setup, very pleased with the result - It currently sits in a temporary home.

Currently, the centre isn't in an optimal position sitting behind the TV. There is a big sound blockage from the panel itself, but for no it's the only place it can sit.

To the pics:

looks good.

I'd get some rubber feet/pad things for the center/surrounds to get rid of the towels.

You gotta love the Danes for their Know-how when it comes to speaker design and production. Great set up!

Those Dali Concept speakers are pretty remarkable.

If you are regaled to placing your center on a towel, why not find a small, sturdy wooden or plastic box to raise it up over the TV. Since yours is a temporary setup, at least give yourself the best audio until you have a final plan.

That said, I'll bet those speakers do sound great with your Pioneer receiver.

cheers mate, I took this link (http://www.oztion.com.au/buy/auction...itemid=5234680) to a wow Sight and Sound store and got them to price match, unforch, they didn't match internet deals but did $1k au for me since it was a run out model, fair enough really, top service I found which isn't on the net stores. - Not sure if anyone else would have one left though, it's not a current model anymore I don't think. Also came with a free Ipod dock, except I don't use an Ipod but free stuff is always good, might be good for guests if they have one while over my place etc...

I probably wouldn't call it a towel, probably moreso a placemat with kind of Persian embroidery on it. I'm sure it has some kind of name, It kind of works, but it's mainly hiding the cable. I think I will probably just get a new TV cabinet as with all the DVD's showing it's a bit of an eye sore as well. Will do that when in the new place I Think.

cheers though, and yeah, the pioneer really sounds just as good as the Onkyo's I was looking at, though I found the lower model Onkyos to be a lot better than the lower model pioneers.

Beta Man - the rubber feet are a good Idea though, I have some too, I'm sure I'll think of something to make the centre a bit better.

js666 - cheers for the tip

Hey !!! Another Dali owner, hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine !!!

I see that you have everything setup under temporary circumstances as do I, but ultimately when you get everything settled and when it comes to speaker placement check out your Dali owner's manual for proper speaker placement and it will make a huge impact on performance. You may also want to give Dali a call if you are looking for something to rest your center channel on. I know they make a foam pad specifically for my center channel and they might have something for your center channel as well.

If you love your Dali's as much as I do and ever feel like BS'ing with other Dali owners, there is a great and super friendly group of people who participate on AVS. If you are interested just say the word and I'll provide the link for ya !!! Besides myself and you, I think there is only one other person I've ever seen here who own Dali's so it tends to get a bit lonely. Too bad more people here aren't looking into some of the different offerings Dali has. They don't know what they are missing out on !!! Especially since they can be affordable.

Have a good one !!!
