I only know of one person here who uses Dali speakers, there may be a couple others floating around though. I can't remember the users name, but I know he doesn't have the speakers you are talking about. I think his are helicons (or something like that)

BTW, that avatar is already in use!

Edit: NM, BigDaddy has a better memory than me!

You might get the help you need at the "Dali owners thread". I think there is a member there who has that model.

I love my Helicons and can't imagine Dali making a bad speaker at any price level. As for powering them just check the ohm rating on the Dali's and receiver you are interested in. Mine are 4 ohms and I have the center and surround channels powered by my receiver with no problems.

I doubt a RXV663 could drive Dali's well enough. You would likely need to step up to a better receiver/amp to get everything you can out of Dali speakers.

I know peope who have been pleased with Dalis, but I haven't heard the Concept 10s myself. From what I've read though, you need to be careful with your room setup and speaker placement due to the dual 10" bass drivers in each speaker. If you can place them correctly, and have a good room for them, this reviewer thinks they're good all-rounders:

http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/daliconcept10_e.html

Here's another review:

http://www.avhub.com.au/ProductRevie...ctReviewID=126

They are seriously large speakers, and adding a pair will bring 4 bass drivers into your room. The possibility for standing waves and peaks should be taken into consideration. For $2995, try finding a place with an in-home audition policy, so you can return them if they aren't a good fit for your room.

An alternative to consider...

If you want an outstanding tower speaker for the same price range, check out the Monitor Audio RS6. It has superb fit and finish, with real wood instead of simulated wood vinyl wrap. Sound wise, it offers deep, controlled bass, and extended smooth frequency ranges up to 30 kHz, so they're ideal for the extended frequencies of Blu-ray, SACD, and DVD-A.

Here they are on Monitor Audio's web site. Check out the reviews by Stereophile, which normally seems to love speakers priced around $10k and up.

http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/produ...oduct=4&area=5

If you're interested in tower speakers, don't pass them up. The finish quality is outstanding, and the sound quality will beat most comparably priced and higher priced contenders You can check them out at select Hi-Fi stores, as well as Magnolia Hi-Fi. Don't pass them up without listening to them.

That is EXACTLY what I was going to say. Pairing Dali with a Yamaha 663 is like putting a Toyota Camry engine into a BMW M-class.

I would recommend Rotel, Marantz, the higher end Elites of Pioneer, and the 2K series from Denon AT LEAST. Separates are something you might want to consider as well.

If the yamaha has pre-outs then it's no biggie. Everyone has to start somewhere, I know I would go with a separate amp any day of the week if he already has the receiver or is dead set on it. I doubt any receiver's internal amp is good enough power for most tower speakers anyways.

There is only one way to know if the Dali's are perfect for you and that is to bring them into your home. I am guessing a proper low end is important to you in your choice of speaker. There are other Dali models or manufacturers that will cover your needs if these ones don't work out for you.

No matter what, buy what pleases you!!!

Ya, the 663 has pre-outs, so I'd just find an external amp and use the pre-outs. Nice looking speakers though, and I'd also look into the Monitor audio speakers as well.

I was just informed that Audiophile Liquidators is not a legitimate business. Please don't order anything from them. Thanks to JJxiv1215 for informing me. Read these threads:

What about my Onkyo 805? I'm going to be running some extra large 4 ohm towers in a couple weeks on it along with the rest of my speaker gang.

Don't know how similar an 805 and a 875 are but my 875 runs cooler @ 4 ohms than at 8 ohms.

If they both sound good to you, then I would suggest the JBL's. My main reason is that the Dali's have an Impedance of 6 Ohms and JBL's have an Impedance of 8 Ohms. Your receiver may have an easier time with the 8 Ohm speakers. It may overheat with lower impedance speakers.

If you have an amp coming I would get the speakers which you like best regardless of the ohm rating. Let your ears be the judge!!!
