Default Anyone having handshake issues with the new firmware?

I regularly update my firmware on the PS3 when it's available. However, ever since the latest update, when I flip over to my PS3/HDMI 1 input, it'll say "no signal" or sit on a black screen for a couple minutes before getting going. I usually already have a movie in and it's set to auto start. Before, it'd instantly start up the disc and away I'd go. Now I sit for a bit before it settles in.

The fix is usually flipping to a different input, but sometimes that doesn't kick it off either. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's realistically my first complaint about my setup and it just recently started happening.

Running HDMI from the PS3 to my Onkyo 805, and HDMI to the Philips HDTV. Once it starts, I never have a hiccup or issue, but getting it to start playing is an issue sometimes. I've reseated HDMI cables and everything's in tightly.

Ideas? Anyone else getting this?

You say it sits for a minute or two.. when it finally does come on has the movie already started and been playing or is it starting from beginning?

Could by dusty connections causing a break, but you've re-seated everything so not sure.

I have not had an issue with my PS3 doing this, but it does sound hardware related. Perhaps it's just coincidence that you recently updated and it's either the PS3 or another piece of hardware in the chain (i.e. receiver) that is causing the problem?

Do you run your PS3's audio/video through a reciever before going to your TV?

Thanks for the reply. The PS3 doesn't start the movie- you get the little dimple/whirlpool icon up in the upper right corner, the 'Play' icon comes up down in the lower left, and the movie loads up. In the past, sometimes I'll put in a movie and not flip over to the PS3 for say, 20 minutes. It will wait until I'm at the input to start the movie.

And yeah, I run the HDMI through my Onkyo 805. Never had an issue with it in the past, nor with my 605. This all just started up lately. I might try a different HDMI input since I have some free. One other thing is that I run a simple macro with my remote, and I'm wondering if it has an issue as well. I'll try doing it manually and see if there's a difference.

Interesting. If I put a movie in it'll start regardless if the input is selected. This is why I disabled "auto-play" in the first place.

All I can recommend is take it back to barebones where PS3 is hooked directly to TV and see if it still happens.

Doesn't sound too debilitating to your setup but just a new small inconvenience. Good luck!

Yeah mine's never started until I switch to that input. Perhaps that's because of the Onkyo, or because it's the only thing I have currently running HDMI. Cable tv is still good old coaxial since I don't run a cable box.

I had this issue with my 80G Ps3 only after the firmware update. It workes direct into the TV but not in any receivers now. I tried it on the Denon 3808CI and my current Pioneer SC-07 the 80gig wont connect. But my 60GIG version will.

I admit after playing a game I started to have handshake issues but I also changed out the hdmi cable earlier that day (1.1 to 1.3) and I discovered it was not as tight as I thought it was.

After some wiggling and tightening it stopped.. it was kinda funny and scary at the same time.

Mine's intermittent- maybe based on title? I threw in King Kong last night and it fired right up. Same with my DVD edition of T2. Typically, it used to ALWAYS load up quickly, and now there are sometimes where it just seems to stall out. Guy here at work says he got the same thing with the new Hulk movie yesterday.
