Default Is it handshake problem?

I have an issue which I think is handsake. Each time I press my Watch BD button on my universal remote everything turns on but my receiver shows No Signal so I have to switch to any other input on the remote and then back to DVD/BD (sometimes a few times until it works). I never have the problem with Direct TV. Is the problem coming from my BD player or is it the HDMI port on my receiver? Any way to fix that? It's really a pain in the butt!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I get the same thing with my PS3/Pioneer receiver as well (it says no support, actually . . . sometimes I end up having to disconnect the HDMI from the receiver to get it to to actually kick in).

There are a few things you can do to help identify the problem. First swap out the cable between the receiver and blu-ray player and see if it makes a difference. Use the cable in question to connect something else and see if the problem follows the cable.

Second try hooking your blu-ray player up to a different port on your receiver and see what happens. Again try hooking another component up to the receiver input that the blu-ray player is currently connected to and see what happens.

If these steps don't make any difference try hooking your blu-ray player directly to the TV and see what happens. This is just the process of elimination. It may be a handshake issue and if that's the case there isn't really anything you can do about it. However, if you're able to determine it's a cable, or connecting your blu-ray player to a different input helps then it's something that can be dealt with.

You might want to do a google search for Onkyo 606 handshake issues or even the last few posts here. A lot of problems!!!

You will probably have to send it in for repair, which hasn't even fixed the problem in some cases.

Sometimes with universal remotes and inputs, it may be the order you are powering on each item and/or the delay times causing the issue.....

hello ArieS, although i have completely different equipment i have been having a few issues my self, and its eating me alive! when i press "watch movie from library" on my harmony one, everything that is suppose to come on, comes on. however once everything is up and ready to go, the picture on my screen begins to flicker in the middle and the entire image starts to go on and off. and on the top right corner from the projector it says aux, hdmi, theater one on top another when its showing my sony players home screen, and when it goes to no signal, it says aux, not connected. i can not take it any more! and also on the sony bluray player the hdmi icon goes on and off as its going from home screen to the black screen on and off.

i have no idea the cause, but it does that for a minute or two, and then is fine, i also pull the hdmi cables and plug them back in. i figured it was my marantz reciever, and was looking into the marantz av8003 pre amp...i dont know what to do, but if you figure your issue out, please let me know! or if anyone else has the solution...

After trying different HDMI ports the issue is now solved. Turns out my HDMI port in 1 is bad...

I experienced the same issue w/ my Onkyo 667. I had the Magnovox BD player hooked to HDMI 1 for as long as I had this reciever. She is a year old now. I got a new Sammy plasma along w/ a sammy BD player. When I hooked the sammy player up to HDMI port 1 I had to keep resetting the BD player in order for it to find the signal. Finally after going nuts for a few days, I tried in in HDMI port 4 and whallah...it connected.
