Default Thoughts on a DIE HARD tv series?

I was reading Movieola this morning and skimmed over a news story which had this bit of information:
Quote:
I recently spoke to a writer whose been pitching Fox a “Die Hard” TV series – one which, like the comic, fixes on McClane pre-Nakatomzi Plaza. But instead of travelling back as far as 1976, it’s actually set the twelve months before the events of the first film.

I’ve read some outlines for what would be the first season, and browsed the character breakdowns, and it’s actually quite cool. I’d watch the show. All they’d need is a great young McClane (if Benjamin McKenzie weren’t busy with “Southland” he’d be terrific; and we know he looks good in a wife-beater).

Still, I don’t know where the TV series (which I believe was titled ‘McClane’ at one stage) is at, or whether or not it’s even been picked up, just saying it’s a nifty idea. Maybe the comic will help push it along? Wouldn’t surprise me if it pops up on Fox’s radar in the near future… if it hasn’t already.
I could see a Die Hard prequel series being kind of cool. Who of you would watch it?

It sounds kinda cool in theory...

Thinking back, for the most part they could do about 90 - 95% of the action/violence/language from the movies in a tv series... but I don't think Fox could slip a "yippe ki-yay mother@()#!" passed the censors... They may have to take the sally route (like DH:WaV did) and have some explosion go off or something to cover it up.

Plus... I don't know... Bruce Willis IS John McClane... not sure if anyone else could pull it off and still keep me interested.

There would be no reason to any further if it's supposed to take place 12 months before the first movie. Think I'd pass as well.

I think it'll be the Osbourne Reloaded version of epic TV-action series: Just one showing, and it's over.

I love the Die Hard series but I cant see them pulling off a real hard edged foul mouthed McClane on television. Plus if it's Fox they'll just cancel it so why bother.

Yeah that was a disaster. I tried watching the show, and loved almost everything about it, EXCEPT the guy they cast to play Blade. IMO he couldn't pull it off at all.

Don't see how a TV series would work.

Die Hard is a series of films that shows John McClane (a cop) inadvertently being pulled into extraordinary circumstances as in being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Die Hard - meeting his wife at a X-Mas party that is taken over by terrorists.
Die Hard 2 - picking up his wife at the airport that is taken over by terrorists.
Die Hard 3 - being used as a diversion in a terrorist plot so they can rob the bank.
Die Hard 4 - assigned to protect a computer geek who's the target of terrorist and ended up having to rescue his daughter.

McClane can't be in the wrong place at the wrong time in every episode of a series. No one is that unlucky. Wouldn't be believable. His job doesn't put him into situation involved with terrorists on a daily basis. It's more believable if John McClane and the Die Hard series of films began as him being a secret agent going from mission to mission.
