The amount of money its going to take to get a product that will not only work at all, ----- but also look good; you'd probably be better off just buying a new monitor that has DVI with HDCP or even an actual HDMI port.

A digital signal from HDMI or DVI to VGA (Analog) is not so simple. You can't just buy a gender changer, as the actual signal is a whole different species, so to speak. This may be confusing because some DVI ports will work this way, but its actually because SOME not All DVI ports posess some extra pins that carry a redundant analog signal that the VGA will actually use.

But in the case of the PS3, it outputs a digital only signal over HDMI and will not work with a couple of simple gender changers.

Not only that, but the digital signal is encrypted with HDCP; so it makes things extra difficult and really requires a quality piece of kit to get it mostly right.

My Optoma PJ came with a VGA-component (RPbPr) adapter. http://salestores.com/op42vgatocor1.html Found it here, glad mine was free, 40 bucks is a lot. Have my DVD player connected this way, it's good.

I'm going to get the PS3 component plug, 15.99 at amazon http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-3-...3829297&sr=8-1
to hook up my PS3. My PJ says it is HD ready, so this should send 720p to it.

It won't be long enough so have to get a component cable with female end .

Can't find the composite plug that camw with the PS3 (1 video, L/R Audio). Don't know if that would even work at all with Blu-ray.

When I had to hook my PS3 up to my projector I had to get the component cable for the PS3, a component to VGA converter box then I could output to VGA on my projector. The quality isn't really that good. If you can go to DVI it is much simpler.

Acer H233H 23" 1920x1080 (FullHD)
TN Panel + film makes the blacks really dark (it is also quite reflective). 2ms, 0.248mm pitch with wall mounting capability. VGA, HDCP on both DVI and HDMI. Buttons are touch-sensitive electrostatic style.

Setting the resolution for a game is usually an in-game video option. You don't necessarily have to run at 1920x1080 (that's the max resolution, not the only resolution).

Yes, an 8800gt will have problems running new games at 1080p with max detail settings and maybe even some AA. You are going to have to decide which you want to look better----PS3 or PC games. Then choose a display accordingly.

I decided a long time ago that I'm not a resolution ***** and 720p was good enough for me. So I got the best 720p tv at the time and use it for PS3 games, Blu-rays AND PC games. This way, I can run everything at my display's native resolution. My videocard (Radeon 3870 - about as good as an 8800gt) has lasted quite a long time. I can run basically any game with max detail settings at 720p and sometimes even throw in some AA depending on how demanding the graphics engine is.

If you do get a computer style monitor to play your PS3 games on, I would definitely try to get one that is 16:9. More and more of them are coming out now and you no longer have to wonder if your games will scale properly As most 16:10 monitors were hit and miss from game to game.
