Default Huge marketing/pre-sale tie-in potentional for Sony with FF-13 and FF14...

Since FF-14 will be exclusive to PS3 at launch, Sony and SE should get together and come up with a presale/marketing campain that ties both it and the relase of FF-13 together.

For example, let's say assuming that FF-13 comes out before 14, if you pre-buy both FF-13 and FF-14 together on PS3, you get a discount on FF-14 or get a month's worth of free play online. Something like that could potentially create much larger FF-13 pre-sale base for Sony than Microsoft. If you're a huge FF fan and own a 360, don't you think that might sway some people to pick up a PS3?

Maybe I'm not listing the best example but I think Sony and SE would be fools not to try and tie these two together in one big promotion.

This would be a good idea. Sony needs to try harder to drive the sales for both games, seeing that FFXIV is going to be on PC too, and the majority of people who play MMO's play on PC.

Also, it seems like 360 will eventually get the game, SQEnix is looking at other potential hardware. As big of an announcement that FFXIV was, Sony needs to do more.

I agree completely. Also don't forget about vsXIII. There's huge value in there as well because anyone interested in FFXIII is almost certainly interested in vsXIII as well.

Oh snap!! I completely forgot about FF Versus13!! Something tells me that one won't make it 010. It was conspicuously absent from E3. Something tells me this one may be saved for 011.

Include FF: Advent Children BLU-RAY into one of the games for FREE or $5 more and watch the sales sore over crapbox360. I am very very sad we will not see a Left4Dead coming to PS3 though . Silly Valve I guess after this year for Sony they might reconsider their opinion towards what probably will be the superior gaming system by that time (PS3!).

Isn't there a guy from Valve who's kinda in charge that openly hates everything PS3? Fanboys like him would probably hate the system even more as it gains popularity and/or success.

i dunno, at least they don't have to waste the time making it for the 360 too.

Square has already done everything they need to drive sales. The PC version is for the American market---because, Americans have a lot of PC gamers and 99% of the MMO players in America play MMOs on PC. FFXI was pretty successful here. The console version of FFXIV in the U.S. is just here for the curious few with a hope that hey maybe it will actually take off and usher in an era of American Console MMOing. Besides WoW, Final Fantasy is probably the only other brand that could maybe do that.

For Japan, its all the opposite. Japan isn't known for PC gaming, so the PC version (if it even gets localized for them) will be a curiosity. Whereas Japan has no problems playing MMO type games on consoles and will buy the shit out of some PS3s to play FFXIV.

PS3 Beta for FFXIV included the PS3 version of FFXIII?

I imagine that could turn some heads....

Edit:

You have DCUO, The Agency, and Free Realms all also coming to PS3. Age of Conan and Champions Online are also supposed to hit 360. And there is a very real possibility that Star Wars: The Old Republic could hit one or both of the consoles.

I doubt FF will be the franchise to usher in american console MMO gaming. Personally I'd love it to be DCUO, but my money is on Free Realms or Star Wars. FF is too much of a niche market (over here) compared to something like WoW. It will need to be something that brings in mainstream players.
