Default Ferris Bueller's Day Off better transfer

So I guess the blu-ray has a mediocre transfer.

Is there any chance for a better transfer in the future? Maybe a 25th anniversary edition?

I'd say it looked rather good for what it was. Especially age...the type of movie it was....I can't see it looking much better. Excellent job imo on this blu-ray.

When I received "Ferris Bueller" (I believe we got them at the same time as of "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever"), I was impressed of how a late 70's film could look so fantastic on Blu-ray but then when I got to "Ferris Bueller" and expecting to be wowed, I felt that it could have looked much better. Very good transfer but again, after watching SNF then Grease and then Ferris... I was hoping to be wowed by its picture quality, as I was with the other two (which are several years older than Ferris). And I wasn't.

I felt the blu-ray could have had the commentary that was on the older DVD. But yeah, it would be interesting to see if there will be a 25th Anniversary edition.

If you are reading AVS Forum, just ignore those guys. That forum has made an industry of attracting malcontents as members. It is rare to find a post that doesn't nit pick a Blu-ray release. I bought "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and was pleasantly surprised.

It looked decent, but did anyone notice how there was some very slight blurring of actors faces at times?

Ferris was shot on the Super 35 format, whereas the other two were not. This is significant because back the in the early days of Super 35 photography, a blow up of the film was necessary. With the blow up came a heavier amount of grain in the picture than a 2.35 movie shot with traditional anamorphic lenses.

These days most 2.35 movies are shot with Super 35, but since we now have the DI process, the blow up is not necessary so the images are not as grainy.

I've seen the Ferris Blu-ray and it looks awesome considering the circumstances.

I think Ferris Bueller's transfer is nothing special, but hear f'ing hear. They could complain about edge enhancement on a video game.

And they will do it before ever seeing the Blu-ray. All based on one or two screenshots.

There are quite a few decent people over there, but the lunatics are definitely running the asylum when it comes to those threads. The sad part is that Ralph Potts, their reviewer, does a good job. Don't always agree with him but if you have a question about his review, he'll talk to you. Not pass out the torches and pitchforks.
