Default Help w/ Pioneer SC-05 and Sub

Hey guys I got a quick question that maybe some of ya'll can help me with. I have a Pioneer Elite SC-05 and no matter what setting I have it set on (Stereo, Pro Logic, Direct, etc) my subwoofer does not come on what so ever. But during movies that have DTS, Dolby, Etc soundtracks it comes on. I want it to come on during 2 channel stereo music though, is that possible? This is my first Pioneer so im not used to all the menus and settings. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

The Standard Surround button should kick it in, on my 03, that's what I use to kick it in. Albeit, it doesn't work with every input...I think...I never use it for music anyway, hmm. When I get home, I'll look into this.

Are your front speakers set to large? You do have large speakers and all but after running the MCACC calibration check your manual speaker settings. It'll likely register as large but you can manually change them to small and that will send all the LFE's to your sub.

I haven't listened to a cd yet with my SC-07 but I did use my iPod on it and I'm almost positive both my AT subs were on because it sounded sweet!

Indeed, check your GUI menu for speaker size settings. Fronts should be set to "small" to engage your sub for 2-channel audio. My SC-05 delivers sound to my sub for 2-channel stereo sources (such as CDs and my turntable). Incidentally, my crossover point is 80Hz.

We really need an "Official Pioneer Elite 01/03/05/07/09 Receiver Thread" in these forums!

DBlackGT,

I attached a quick screenshot of my own SC-05 on-screen setup at the bottom of this post to show you the location of the speaker size setup menu in your GUI menu, just in case you need to know how to get there.

To get there, turn on your SC-05 and TV, and press the "Home Menu" button on your remote (lower left "silver" button" with the "house" logo on it).

Wait for the Home Menu to appear (takes a quick moment).

Arrow down to "4. System Setup" and press center "Enter" button on remote.

Arrow to "a. Manual SP Setup" and press center "Enter" button on remote.

Arrow down to "2. Speaker Setting" and press center "Enter" button on remote.

You should see the menu that I attached as a photo at that point. Adjust speaker sizes and crossover point on this menu screen.

Good luck!

Sorry I set this thread to have any responses sent to me via an email notification and only got one, so I didnt know you guys responded. So thank you to all of you.

Rob and Junkboy thank you very much, that was definitely was the trick. I set them to small and instantly my sub came on in 2 channel music.

Rob thanks for the instructions btw too. Since this is my first Pioneer I am still finding out new things all the time.

Thanks again guys, problem solved, and sweet to see an actual thread for the elite receivers.

Default Subwoofer and SC-05

I have been successfully using a subwoofer with my SC-05 but I moved and now it is not working. Both units are on and fine. I am using LFE. I have speakers set to small and front with a subwoofer in MCAAC.

Still nothing.

Also when I use MCAAC it says subwoofer yes but when it tests it it says the volume on the subwoofer is too low. I have it maxed out.

What am I missing?
