Nobody knows yet - It's due to start on UK TV on the 11th June I believe.
The fact that it's written by two of the League of Gentlemen and promises to be even darker sends me giddy with excitement though. ![]() I'm sure, no matter what it ends up being, it most certainly won't be boring. One thing it won't be is a "safe" sit-com revolving around the family or the workplace like so many interchangeable sit-coms these days are. Here's a brief teaser from the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/comedy/20...rst-look.shtml UPDATE: I just checked to program my PVR and its not on this week. However, it is starting soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoville Last edited by 2099net; 06-07-2009 at 08:31 AM. |

Yes, the BBC does that a lot - only recently with Blu-rays, but have been doing for a while on DVD. I've had some DVDs before the series has finished airing on television in the past.
Recently, it looks like Torchwood: Children of Earth, South Pacific and of course Pychoville will be released on Blu-ray soon after the TV screening. The BBC have the attitude that its best to get TV content out quick, because its something which can easily be distributed from off-air recordings, so they think sales potential is higher if you strike while the awareness is hot and perhaps before the off-air content is fully distributed. |

Well I finished watching it last night and I might consider buying it when its substantially reduced. It built well even though the opening gag of the first episode was the best one in the series but the ending was a huge letdown, maddeningly unresolved and totally dependant on there being a second series

I sincerely hope the former is true or I'll have to import all non-film and non-natively produced in the UK shows and get a region free Blu-ray player when available. Though this would all be silly if the UK PS3 could already output 1080i/p 60Hz... |

I'm finally watching the show on BD, and I must say both the show and Blu-Ray release are awesome. It's a visually interesting show, and the HD quality of the format makes for a great view experience.
Even the menus and disc art are wonderful, and fit the series quite nicely. Hopefully the quality of this release is a sign of things to come in regards to British TV series on BD. |

Putting the disc in my PS3, after the copyright warning and the 2/entertain logo, I was greeted by black. I couldn't do anything with the disc. I now have a Vision Quest BD player that can do region-free and PAL to NTSC conversion. It had no problem with playing the disc. I have wondered why the PS3 couldn't play the disc, and this 50Hz explanation may be as good as any. Interestingly enough, watching the extras was without issue, except for a photo gallery! I could not get that to play. |

Unfortunately this minor distinction only helps a small subset of people, people that have Region A locked players w/ a display that can also support 50hz signals, or alternatively a region A player that CONVERTS 50hz to a 60hz signal on any TV. I found a list of such players on this site https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-pl...st1818503.html My player is listed as supporting 50hz, but unfortunately does not "convert" it to 60hz and I don't think my TV can handle that. So I guess I'll not take a chance on this set based on that. I'll probably end up waiting until I get a "region free" player anyway... |

Yes, it does. But you should be aware that the stand alone Halloween Special has bonus features, including a commentary. The special on the S2 pack has no commentary or related special features.
I know. An odd choice to hold back for a separate release - they may as well not have bothered putting the special on the S2 release, at least then people could justify more the purchase of the special. You should be able to pick up the special for about £5 if you shop around these days. |

Just hate the idea of them bringing out another release of EVERYTHING with more extras and then regretting I didn't wait (as its against my religon to double dip!) ![]() |

Stop Press
After listening to the commentary on the stand alone Halloween Special its come to my attention that the wrong edit of the special was released on the series 2 package. One of the segments (with Lomax) was edited out. This is because it was an edit for the US and rather than trim the odd 10 seconds here and there, it was easier to remove a segment. It found its way onto the release by accident, not by intent. I've checked and the segment is missing of the blu-ray for S2. So I guess that explains the release of the Halloween special on its own after S2. |
