Thumbs up Lucio Fulci's Zombie

I am a zombie-theme fan, and this was a great one that I think should be made into blu-ray.

I would not be surprised if we saw Zombie on blu-ray in the next 12 months.

It was just remastered from the original camera negative for the recent DVD re-release, so I don't think there is much work left to be done.

Also, Fulci is coming to blu-ray later this year, as Blue Underground is releasing The New York Ripper in September.

I would love a box set of all of Luci's classics (or at least Zombie, The Beyond, House by the Cemetary and City of the Living Dead.) Complete with commentaries and loads of extras of course

The Shark fighting the Zombie is one of the best scenes in film history, imo.

Yeah, Ithink that's the only zombie-oceanic scene so far. I thought that Spanish zombie was creepy looking, the one that is on the cover.

Default Anything on Zombi 2?

I did a search and I pulled up nothing. Does anyone know if there's a Blu-Ray in the works for this?

I honestly don't know. Becuase there's been three releases; Anchor Bay, Media Blasters, and Blue Underground.

I own the Anchor Bay ZOMBIE DVD. The transfer is crap.

I Blue Underground can get the rights to the special feature from Media Blasters that would be an awesome day 1 purchase.

The remastered transfer is identical for the Blue Underground and Media Blasters DVD releases - though BU's was progressive scan and MB's was not. It blows the old Anchor Bay DVD from the late 90s out of the water, so it should be pretty solid in high-def.

I'm not sure how both companies ended up with the distribution rights, but so far there has been no word from either about a blu-ray release.

And yes, a BD release with ALL the extras would be appreciated.

Well, Blue Underground's version is titled Zombie and Media Blasters' version is titled Zombi 2. Maybe one got the rights from the US distributor and other got it from the original Italian distributor.

Titles aside (I mean, Italian horror films go by at least 5 different titles, minimum), it's odd that two different companies would have the U.S. distribution rights to the same film at the same time.

In any event, bring on the blu!

I'd like to get either the Blue Underground or the Media Blasters but at the rate of how I cannot sell any of my DVDs off, it's not worth it, in my opinion. I got a guy buying my copy off of me on Craigslist for $4. But, lucky for me, I only spent $5 on it so no big loss.

I hope it gets a release similar to the recent City of the Living Dead blu by Arrow (with the exception of the extras being region free instead of 1050i/50hz)

I am one of the greatest zombi fans out on the planet now.
Any zombi movie is a must buy for me.

Wierd that I havent seen this zombi movie in particular as I have seen almost 100+ zombi movies so far. From your comments it seems to be a great genre classic.

Day 1 buy for me.

At least in North America there may be a dispute over who owns the home video rights. The most recent DVD release in 2004 saw competing versions put out from Shriek Show/Media Blasters and Blue Underground.

Hopefully Blue Underground was able to retain the rights since their track record is much better than Media Blasters. On that DVD they did a fairly good job of restoring and/or remastering it so even if they use the same master (if they created an HD master that is) we should be OK.

What I am afraid of is even though Blue Underground was "allowed" to release their version from what I read back then Media Blasters did most of the legwork and knowing them they only created a SD master. I sincerely hope I'm wrong on that point.

I'm surprised this hasn't been released, or even hinted at as coming soon yet for Blu-Ray since this was one of the early DVD releases back in the day when that format was still new.
