Judging from their BD releases so far, that sweet veneer of chunky grain on the original dvd release should be nice and safe. Can't wait.

Great news. I am a bit surprised that this is being released before The Beyond is though...

Grindhouse Releasing currently owns the rights to The Beyond and recently re-issued it on DVD only. Unfortunately it will probably be awhile until we get The Beyond on Blu-Ray.

While I am super excited to see City of the Living Dead announced on Blu-Ray, I wonder why Blue Underground is "skipping" titles they had previously announced: In their original Blu-Ray video promo that was on their website they teased us with Maniac, Vigilante and Uncle Sam, and in their Fangoria print ad awhile back they mentioned Daughters of Darkness and The Blood Spattered Bride.

maybe mr lustig had a change of heart and didnt want to hog the release line-up with his own movies. maniac on blu-ray would be great though. as far as blood spattered bride and daughters of darkness at least you can get your euro lesbian vampire fix with Vampyres in the near future.

Great news. Though I think I do prefer 'The Gates of Hell' title more for this particular movie. City of the Living Dead makes it seem like its one of George Romero's films.

I dunno, I think I prefer the original theatrical poster art used on the dvd release. Though this isn't bad. And I see they're including the original mono, so that's a plus.

One of Fulci's best for sure! I consider this to be among his top 5. Will be great to see this in HD.

Blue Underground hasn't dissapointed me yet, so this will be a sure winner!

I'm really glad they are using the mono tracks again. I emailed them about this and I guess others did as well. Can't wait for this.

I hope they some day release The House by the Cemetery and Zombie on BD.

The blu-ray cover features original theatrical poster art, as well. The DVD just uses art from the American cut release entitled Gates of Hell. That key art had also been used for the film "Hell of the Living Dead" (aka Night of the Zombies) and at least one other Italian zombie film of the era.

I like that they are using the "rising from the grave" art on the blu-ray.

This is my favorite Fulci film and the title from Blue Underground I was looking forward to the most (tied with Argento's Deep Red of course) so I am psyched. It's also nice to see BU release 2 titles on the same day; they've never done that before. It's usually one BD a month so this must mean sales are good. We'll see more titles faster then

Considering that the euro title for Zombie was Zombi 2, I'd be willing to wager that its not a coincidence that the title would suggest a connection w/ Romero's films (Dawn of The Dead was titled as Zombi in Italy, in case someone is unsure about what I'm talking about).

The cover art for the blu-ray, is from the original italian poster and/or VHS cover. The previous DVD release was taken from the US cut version (which then was titles "The Gates of Hell")

City of the Living is a much more accurate translation that The Gates of Hell.

i do think its cool that they are using the original cover/poster art but at the same time whenever i think of city of the living dead i picture that iconic one eyed zombie face... oh well definitely nothing to complain about im just saying.
