Default Man on Fire PQ

The PQ is very sharp and very good but with grain. But do anyone also think in some scenes through out the whole movie the grain is more visible then some other scenes?

Why is grain such a bad thing? That was the intended gritty look Tony Scott was going for. Although, yes the grain is far more visible in certain scenes but it doesn't distract from the film at all. For me personally, it's one of my favorite transfers. That's just my 2 cents. I picked this one up at Bestbuy when they used to have 2 BD's for 30 bucks.

Yeah that's Tony Scott's intended look of his films, just like in Domino, Deja Vu and in the upcoming Taking of Pelham 123.

$19.99 at Target isn't low enough? I paid $34.99 for it at Best Buy the day it was released.

The amount of grain is supposed to vary from Scene to Scene in this film. It is the intended look of the film.

Personally I think it is a great looking Blu and would recommend it highly. Sound quality is exceptional as well.

Sorry redman, but the PQ on this baby is 5/5. I traded the movie because I just can't stand Marc Anthony's acting. However, the PQ is awesome.

pay attention to the types of scenes that have more grain. stylistically, it fits the story well.

Can someone please explain to me why a director would want grain in a film or for it to be the intended look? To me it is very distracting too...the only way I could see them wanting to use it is if they are trying to make the flim look old like Grindhouse or say flashbacks or stock footage.

he was acting?

i think the performances by denzel and dakota by far make up for other weaknesses. and yea the film has a typical tony scott look to it, it matches the theatrical presentation, and i thought looked great, one of the better bluray transfers

The Digital Bits; "Grain is supposed to be there!"

Go the forum search page and type in the above ^, it is very informative and specifically answers your question!

I bought the UK version for a pretty low price. Has a bunch of extras which makes the film all that more interesting.
