Although the plot was simple, kidnapped girl, guy does whatever it takes to get her back, but there was a lot I didn't understand from Man On Fire. Where as Taken, similar story, but I understood everything in that one, so I'll go with Taken.

What was so confusing about Man on Fire? It definitely has more layers than Taken and the characters are a lot more complex but I found it pretty straightforward myself.

Taken was so predictable and cliche... If Liam wasn't in this movie i dont think half the people would like it.. he has a huge following

It really is. I'm actually surprised to see how close this poll is.

Don't get me wrong though I like Taken but its pretty much a straight up by-the-numbers pursuit thriller. Very much a product of the Bourne era of action films

Man on Fire on the other hand is not only one of the best Revenge films ever (and quite frankly everything a Punisher film should be - take notes Marvel) but at it's core its an emotional story about redemption and sacrifice. Its just a much deeper film.

I wish you had more time, Man on Fire and it's not even close. Thanks for reminding me, I need to get this soon.

Man on Fire is a very good film, but I just watched Taken and...holy freakin' crap. They give a good 25 minutes of story/set-up and then Liam Neeson just kills the hell out of everything for the rest of the movie. Possibly the most badass 90 minutes of film ever? It's just AWESOME! And what a DTS-HD MA track too!

I am going against what everyone is saying and Man on Fire is definately the better movie of the two. Don't get me wrong, Taken is a good movie, but it is over quickly. Man on Fire is just one of the movies that has all the elements in it and I found the movie so enjoyable! Plus the PQ in Man on Fire is easily one of the best around!

I go with Man on Fire!

For me it is easily Man on Fire, more realistic, emotional and raw movie than Taken. I understand most of you who choose Taken since it is a newer movie but I am one of the few that thinks Taken was just like the title says, took elements from several movies and put them all together nothing new,Liam Neeson's character just seemed too Harrison Ford to me, I kind of enjoyed the movie but it will be forgotten pretty quick. My two cents.

I would say get both there both great. But Man On Fire is a better movie hands down Denzel is great in it and it's one of the best Tony Scott movies to.

That's the best review of Taken I've ever read.

I liked both movies, but I'd have to say Taken. Taken cuts right to the chase in the first 20-30 minutes, while Man on Fire kind of drags on throughout.

Definitely Taken. Man on Fire is more of a drama with very little action that feels really long as it moves so slow.

They should have cast Jason Statham for Taken. The action was so nonsensical, I thought I was watching The Transporter or Crank. Liam goes to France and murders everyone in his path with zero ramifications or accountability. Yeah.

Man on Fire is better.

Both are great movies, but if it comes to picking up a blu ray I would pick Taken and wait for them to update Man on Fire like the scecial edition dvd with extras including an alternate ending.
Better movie would be Man on Fire but again I hate double dipping so I would wait unless you already have the special edition onDVD and keep it around for the extras.

I've never seen Man on Fire, I've seen Taken twice. Once in SD, once in Blu. Thanks to everyone, I'm now sure I need both.
