This seems to be a decoder issue. It is unclear (to me, at least) if the disc is encoded for discrete 6.1 or if it's 5.1 with matrix flags. I think it's the latter and some DTS-HD decoders miss the flags. If you are bitstreaming, you may be able to apply a DSP on your own to matrix the rear channel(s).

I have the same problem. Player - ps3. Cant get proper sound from it on my 5.1 system. It sounds strange & unnatural, rears are barely active. May be that`s because ps3 don`t supports 6.1?

Mine is not the problem of how it sounds, it sounds great in my opion just cant get the 6.1 DTS-HDMA just 5.1. I messed with it for over an hour last night and couldnt figure it out.
