Default Cant Connect To Bd-live!!!

I have been trying for hours to get connected to BD Live, i dont understand anything on how to do it, where do i get the IP adress, The subnet mask, the gateway and the DHCP server?? Where am i supposed to get all these number from. What i am doing is i unplugged my ethernet cable from my computer and connected the modem straight to the the BD player. I got some of those numbers needed for the connection through my internet connection on my computer and copied the numbers into the BD player, but it always says it can not connect to the DHCP server. I have a Sony BD350, and its up to date on all firmware. Also whats a proxy? someone please help me,

I have a 350 as well, have you run the network Diagnostic to verify the players connection?

Within the network section of the player, are you seeing numbers within the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS settings?

If your player is up to date with the latest firmware updates, how did you accomplish this, with a network connection, or a CD? If you can receive firmware updates via the internet, then there should be no problem with accessing BD Live content.

have you tried rebooting your modem? Before I had a router I would have to switch cables, reboot the modem and then turn on the player before it would connect. Worth a try i guess.

No i don't have anything connected to the back of the player. I got my firmware from a CD I ordered through Son. Everytime I run the diagnostic it says it cant connect to the DHCP Server.

Ok, the USB Flash Drive is a requirement for this player when accessing BD Live Content. Atleast 1 Gig will suffice and you can pay less than 10 bucks for one these days.

How is the S350 connected to the network? Ethernet cable into your Router? If so, as "D1-2005" suggested, try resetting your router and modem and then your 350.

4GB USB Flash Drives are becoming the norm and can be found for under
20 bucks at Walmart. IMO Anything over 4 gigs is overkill.

I never connected my player directly into the modem so I'm not sure how yours would distribute network information to the player. I would suggest looking into getting a Wireless or Wired Router as well.

USB Flash Drives for Under $10 at newegg.com

Connecting directly to your modem should in no way be an issue but you need to know the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway information for the modem unless both the modem and the player are set to DHCP.

Are you able to log into the modem to manage it?

What you stated in your initial post would be something I would do, but my concern is the IP address for the Player. The IP address will change more often than the Subnet Mask, Default gateway, and DNS information. Those numbers are constant under normal circumstances.

I would suggest manually entering the Subnet mask, Default gateway, and DNS numbers, but change the fourth Octet of the IP Address with a range between 2 and 255, depending on the routers Default gateway.

The information you wrote down from your PC's settings are the Network settings provided by your modem.

I will have to check my settings on my 350 but I'm at work. If you have time, check to see if there's a setting to turn DHCP off on your 350.

Yes, I believe you do add zeros.

for example

023.054.255.003

255.255.255.000

023.054.255.001
