Default Need a little help with onkyo 605 zone 2

I'm not even sure if zone 2 is what i want. but i'm trying figure out how to hook up my turtle beach ear force x3 head phones to use with my xbox 360.

usually you would use the red and white cables coming out of the xbox, but i have it hooked up with the hdmi. so i tried plugging in the turtle beach ir thing to zone 2 line out. but i'm not getting any sound from the xbox. i can get sound from my cable tv source though. just nothing when it comes to xbox or my ps3.

any help is appreciated.

thanks

You need to turn Zone 2 to "ACT" or activated in the Onkyo's GUI. Note that if you do use Zone 2's outputs, you won't be able to use surround back speakers (5.1 only).

...why don't you just use the phono out like every other set of headphones?

It doesn't sound like you have it set up right. Zone 2 is used for a seperate set of speakers, usually in a second room or outside. I don't know how the Turtle Beach headset hooks up, but it sounds like it uses stereo RCA cables. On the back of the 605, you want to look for a line out. It can be CD out or anything like that. If you still want to use your Zone 2, just make sure it's turned on.

yeah it's hooked up with rca cables. I'll try other lines out, but if i used cd out, doesn't that only output what i put into cd in? i want audio from my hdmi xbox input. so i figured i could use the zone 2 line out and just select my xbox.

Edit: I just tried the cd line out and it works with any input that's also rca in. so maybe it doesn't work with hdmi inputs?
